The advice i hear most often about dying grass is to find the (only) green patch and throw at it.

Smallies that like grass will stick to grass until its all gone.

I'll agree with fishing the vibrant green stuff, but if you find yourself in an area without any look for the nearest bit of hard structure, rock piles, docks, brush piles, whatever it might be and you stand a very good chance of bringing a fish to hand

It’s a little early for photoperiodism to be setting in.

If the aquatic plants are turning brown in lieu of health green it could be they were sprayed.

Anyway green aquatic plants (grass/weeds) produce dissolved oxygen during sunlight supporting organisms like insects, fish and plankton etc. Dying brown plants use up DO so the fish leave for greener pastures. Find the baitfish the bass will be nearby.

exactly all of the lakes i fish have milfoil. this time of year if it starts to die the easiest way to tell what grass is holding fish is to look at the sonar and just look at the water to see baitfish activity. if there are baitfish there the bass are around somewhere,
