"I’ve decided to stay home from the MLF St. Clair event to spend time with my family and friends. My health is declining and it’s not safe to compete in this shape. I’m very off-balance. My last MRI showed tumor progression so my doctors at Duke and here In Birmingham are changing up my treatment plan. Thank you to all my family, friends, fans, and sponsors for your encouragement, love, and prayers. Don’t give up on me yet. I’m still fighting"

I hope he starts getting better. I hate that he is out another event due to this. He is a great guy and it sucks to see crappy things happen to good folks!

I hate that disease!  No matter what kind it is, never fun watching someone suffer from it.  I hope and pray he can continue to fight it and hope some miracle happens and he can beat this.  Just don't know how much this poor man has left in the tank..

It sadly reminds me of past member Oregon Native's journey.

Pull out all the stops, we now have right to try law that allows cancer patients the right to all treatment trails instead of waiting for approval.

I lost my son last year to cancer at 38, Aaron shouldn’t wait, the Clock is running.

Prayers please.

Tom

Praying for Aaron. Sorry you lost your son Tom. I can't even imagine how hard it would be to lose a child. I'll keep you in my prayers too brother. God bless.

Did we have a member pass away?

Yes @Oregon Native did, I believe @Glennposted his obituary on here. He was a great guy, he posted a whole lot about his struggle and was always very positive and upbeat even facing the bitter end

I pray that he's in the loving embrace of our Lord. That's very sad.

Oh wow, I'm another one that didn't realize he was struggling with cancer.

Been praying for Jimmy Houston's wife and will add Aaron as well.

Man, I've had my own battles with cancer but I'm still alive three years later. I hope Aaron Martens can eventually look back on this in the past too.

I definitely understand the balance. I had mild chemo, but even so that made me really tired and my balance was never right.

Pulling for him too. He's has always been one of my favorites...an incredible angler and always funny and kinda goofy (in the best way). Watching him drop shot on the Mississippi and Arkansas rivers and almost pulling off the win was awe inspiring to me. First time I understood that finesse fishing isn't only for clear water. On top of being one of the best ever he has always seemed like a humble genuine guy. Hoping for the best.

Just found out my wife has skin cancer. They are supposed to cut it off in october. We’re concerned because we don’t know if its spread. They moved like sloths to ever get her in to get a sample of it in the first place . Now, another 6 weeks waiting to have it removed. It is the squama ? kind.

Sorry for those suffering with it. Offering my prayers for Aron and others affected by it…
