Hi guys, my curado 200i just broke so I'm in need for a new reel.

So far, I have a:

topwater/jerkbait/weightless plastic rod (6'8 M/F St-croix bassX) paired with a daiwa tatula 100

frog/punching/swimbait rod (7'10 H/F St-croix bassX) paired with a daiwa tatula 200

and my jig/chatterbait/texas rig (7'1 MH/F st-croix mojobass) which used to be paired with a curado 200i

I already looked up on Daiwa website and the Elite, Elite P/F, Tatula 150 as well as their tatula sv tws all look interesting but can't figure out which one would be more appropriate for the use. I really like Daiwa's breaking system but I'm still open to suggestions.

If you plan to skip lures, any Daiwa SV is hard to beat...

If you need casting distance with higher profile, lighter lures like a jerk bait, buzz bait, etc go with the Tatula Elite. Easily 20%+ farther than a Tatula 100 with those tougher lures to cast.

Elite p/f is really nice when pitching lures out a little farther at a lower trajectory for softer/quieter lure entry into the water so you don't spook fish with the big "plop" at the end of your flip.

What'd you break on the I?

I bought it used so I don't know how the guy before me used it for even though it seemed in good condition. But I frogged with it all summer. Plus, I did a tournament last week in which I punched heavy matts all day. After horsing a good one, the reel started to do a big grinding sound during the cast and the retrieve. I did a deep clean/oiling/greasing but it is still making noise.

For the "jig/chatterbait/texas rig" use I would recommend a Tatula 150 (which I have). You mention nothing about which line you intend to use, and the Tatula 150 is extremely versatile and forgiving of different lines and diameters; nylons and braids both work well. I am told by others that it handles fluoro well, too, but I can't personally vouch for that.

If you need control, the control is there, yet you can loosen it up for distance equally well.

I had that particular Mojo rod, and the 150 paired with it very well, but I use it with 50 lb. braid on a H/F Daiwa Fuego rod right now. Talk to me next month; it might be on something else. Like I said ..... it's versatile.    ?          jj

The I series are notorious for that noise during casting. Make sure that the brake drum is oiled and the brake blocks clean of debris.

Even with a season of heavy use it shouldn't be worn to the point of needing replacement ...

The Tatula Elitę P&F is an absolute beast. I use it for frogging, punching, and heavy jigging. It pitches/flips like a dream, can skip a frog easily, and the handle is perfect. Paired with the Mojo is should make you very happy as a jig/chatterbait/texas rig.

Agreed with above. Anything SV is going to make your backlashes disappear. Correctly adjusted, I can outcast anyone and still not touch my thumb to the spool.
