Super User Bankbeater Posted September 8, 2021 Super User Posted September 8, 2021 I've been lucky that I have been able to get out and fish at least once a week this season. Quote

This summer my youngest turned one, I sold and bought a house, planned and executed a wedding, moved my 14 year old into the new house after summer vacation at my parents', and dealt with a few new house issues along the way. I e been out maybe times to fish. That's life. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 8, 2021 Super User Posted September 8, 2021 Heat indexes have been in the triple digits, the morning bite is done by 8:30 & doesn't pick up until 6 or so. Been practicing casting a lot but not much hook setting practice! 4 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 8, 2021 Super User Posted September 8, 2021 I have no excuse since I’m retired but after our annual St Clair trip in May, I have not been out much. Combination of heat, rain, wife’s 60th birthday party (lots of planning, she wanted a big affair so I did it), a week in Wisconsin where I took some rods and baits but not my boat and got in about 20 casts from a pontoon boat and then just put them away. Weather has cooled and since we always take my buddies boat, I am on my way out the door now to check my 21 foot tackle box for lower unit grease and battery health, I may just hook it up and head to the lake this week since the holiday crowd should have gone home, my buddy is TDY overseas for a month and I am coming up on some surgery that may put me down for a while. My boat has been sitting for at least 4 months. I need to get it out and at least run some fuel through it. Quote
CrankFate Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 I got out about 20 times since the spring, according to Fishbrain, maybe 25 or so, because I went this season before logging things. But sometimes, I can’t. Too many other things to do. When I can, I go. 1 Quote

Weird thing is that I feel fit as a fiddle but come to find out I have a heredity bone problem and need to have sinus reconstruction and bone grafts in my jaw. That then requires a lot of dental work that really has me upset. I’ve put a lot of money in my dental care and now come to find out it’s all for naught with what they have to do. 2 Quote

Junk Fisherman Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 That sucks Tc. Hope things settle down for you. I had a rough summer with pneumonia in June and Covid in August which cost me around a month of the summer. But since the first week of August, I've been out every Saturday or Sunday for 9-10 hours. I've had a real good stretch of favorable winds for Lake Michigan when I wanted to get out and thankfully the fish cooperated. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 10, 2021 Super User Posted September 10, 2021 I’ll be fine. It’s not risky but just time consuming and going between 2 doctors and multiple procedures with extended heal times in between. Thanks for the well wishes. Quote
Black Hawk Basser Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 I have trailer bearing issues so I haven't had my boat out since mid-August. I haven't had it in me to shore fish. Got bearings and whatnot on the way, so hopefully I'll have the trailer ready to roll again soon. 1 Quote

Get decent seals and a version of the bearing buddies and save a headache for a long time. 2 Quote

TcRoc Posted September 11, 2021 Author Posted September 11, 2021 After 4 weeks got out for a hour .. lol. It sucked.. banked it 5 minutes from my house .. it’s a tiny lake at it was trashed from the storm this past week.. but it was nice finally getting a line wet. Even if only for a couple minutes and catching zip. Was hoping to load the yak tonight and head out in morning.. nope ?. 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 11, 2021 Super User Posted September 11, 2021 Well, I got out and after an hour drive to the lake the wind decided to whip up and it got a little sporty out there. No matter, boat ran well after what I think was a stuck thermostat finally kicked in. True to form the lake was a dinkfest but it felt good to get my string pulled no matter the size. 5 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted September 14, 2021 Super User Posted September 14, 2021 Post script: got home and ran a small cable tie through the pee hole on my motor (didn’t have any weed eater line) and water spurted out and it was muddy. Dang mud dauber must have got me. That explains my intermittent motor temp spikes. I left the cable tie in there now I just have to remember to remove it the next time out. ?? 1 Quote

If I did have a hour or 2 .. it’s been ending up taking care of other business.. spent so much money this season and it’s collecting dust. ?. Dying to get the yak back out on the lake before it’s too late. Hopefully a couple more times . Yeah same, Havent been out for about a month, I usually try to go at least once a week or every two weeks, even if its just for a few hours. Ive spent alot of money too this season on lures that havent even touched the water, partly because I have not had the conditions to fish them when my schedule lets me go fishing. Quote
Alex from GA Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 I finally got to fish for 10 minutes yesterday again after under going shoulder replacement early June. After I finish this I'm going until dark. Usually fish at least 4 times a week. Quote
