Super User DitchPanda Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 Lots of threads lately where guys are lamenting how slow it is right now. Honestly it hadn't been to bad for me until this weekend...the past 3 days have been the worst of the open water season for me since right after ice out. I'm throwing everything I can...moving,bottom,finesse,weightless,topwater..shad color, craw color, gill color. For you guys having success..whats the program been? Any help is much appreciated. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 Swimming the Cut R Worm through thick weed patches has been DEADLY for me the last few weeks. Black and Blue or Black Blue Swirl with a pegged 3/16 oz. weight. Love this bait. Just so versatile and will come through the weeds better than any other bait out there. Usually just straight retrieving it but sometimes I'll kill it when I hit an opening in the weeds and let it fall. For whatever reason, that's when I've been getting the bigger bites. Tail thumps so hard, even a one-eyed pike can find it! 10 Quote
huZZah Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Last weekend nothing worked. Weekend before that jigs had some success. Today I got a 2lber amd a few smaller on underspins with rage swimmer trailer. Hang in there. ?♂️ Quote
thediscochef Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Its been pretty slow for me too. The thing that consistently works just about anywhere for me are a chartreuse chatterbait micro, skirtless, with a trd of some kind but most reliably the coppertreuse finesse trd, kvd ocho baby bass/Amistad special/big tex, and molting craw TRD hogz. While I've gone from catching 10-12 per morning (bank fishing the same spot way too much) down to about 2-6 I'm still catching with that. On hot days in still or slow water a lazy stop and go retrieve does it. In faster water or cooler days, a more steady retrieve does better. I fish it with action like a ned rig and get bit consistently. Nothing like catching a largemouth at 2pm on the bank. Quote

I'm catching a few scattered fish...even some nice ones...but can't find a consistent pattern. Ill catch a few in a brush pile on a Texas rig then hit all the other piles and blank. Then ill pull up on a shallow sand flat with scattered rock and get one or two burning a lipless..then hit a spot identical and catch a drum. Saw some busting on shad the other nite...threw a popper, swim jig and lipless to them...nothing. Saw one bust threw a Texas rigged baby brush hog into the shad..sank 2-3 feet then wham 4lber. Tried to duplicate it in several more shad pods after blow ups...nothing. Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 On a spinnerbait bite right now along lily pad/weed edges. Others in area reported having good luck on chatterbaits. I have had a few on buzzbaits. Moving lures seem like the deal right now around here. Only a few bites on flipping jigs/punching and they have been smaller. 1 Quote
Super User ATA Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 I also got sound last 4 times, I am only doing frog, I want to master it, So no frog bites for me. Next week I am going to have ned rig and drop shot as well to try to catch something and again ill start the frog. Quote

I don't understand? fish seem like they could be anywhere. Quote
huZZah Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 My problem is bank fishing now the water is so hot they mostly hang deep. I can’t reach them. I got a couple dinks lobbing my buzzbait a couple weeks ago, but it’s exhausting. I’ve been massacring bluegill on live worms when I get tired of trying to cast 50-70 yards. Quote
PaulVE64 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Wading thru my local rivers in about 2 to 5 ft depth. Smallmouth were crazy for a TR 3" yum dinger (wtrmeln/red flake) and a pearl fluke on an octopus hook Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 Anything small with a small profile. Most of the bass I am catching have been on jigs, finesse worms, and 4" senkos. The topwater bite had dried up, and the crankbait bite has slowed way down from what it was in July. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 We have a big jig off shore bite going on. I’ve been using 1/2 and 1 oz jigs with craw trailers 25-35’ deep. 2 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Fished at my sister's sandpit yesterday...from the bank. All I threw was a Green Pumpkin NED...landed four in the 16-17" range, lost another three trying to get cute : ) Nephew landed three that were close to 17"...he was throwing wacky-Senko and NED. Brother caught probably 25 crappie on jig+gulp minow...fishing deep. Didn't expect much...turned out to be a good day... 2 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 I'm still throwing my usual.plastic worms. Mr. Twister Phenom in any purple/grape color. Zoom finesse in the same colors. I'm hoping as it cools off a little, the trap, spinnerbait bite will pick.up. Ready for Spooks also 1 Quote
Micaiah Freels Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 I use a spinnerbait because of the bass schooling. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 3/8 Siebert Grid Iron G2 jig (black)/ Berkley Maxscent Flat Worm trailer Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 Spinnerbait and Texas rigged worm . I caught a double limit of 15 inch keepers last Thursday . 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 T rigged 3.5" beaver has been my best producer lately. Rock and wood on mainlake points at night, shallow brush/beaver huts after the sun gets up. Hydrilla and Milfoil are dying off. Water is down to mid 70's. Better days are coming soon!!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 6, 2021 Super User Posted September 6, 2021 What are you throwing right now? Nerve in my hip ? 2 Quote

padon Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 apparently after todays disaster i need to start using depth charges because i sucked today. only thing i could get them o eat was a weighted wacky senko in the grass. nothing over 2 pounds. im ready for 55 degree water and jerkbait and a rig bite. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 7, 2021 Global Moderator Posted September 7, 2021 Lots of small plastics lately it seems. I did miss 4 or 5 bites on a big swimbait after work last week though. None of them were big, but it was fun getting popped on it. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted September 7, 2021 Super User Posted September 7, 2021 I’m not setting the world on fire but I am catching bass. Not doing anything much different than the usual Cranks, t-rig worms, shaky head, grubs and tubes. Getting bit on the slight color changes I’m making. I’m hoping I get to land my nicest of the year this month. Sept. is generally a good month for it. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 7, 2021 Super User Posted September 7, 2021 Last thing I threw were both boat trailer hubs. Allen 2 Quote
