Super User Log Catcher Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 I have been working on giving my wifes car a good cleaning and waxing. Sadly I have let this go for too long. The top is really dirty. I have gone over part of it with bug and tar remover and got some of it off. My question is if I get one of these Clay Bar systems is it safe for older vehicles? This is a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. Any other recommendations? Any help is appreciated. Quote

I used the Clay Bar system on my 2001 Silverado without issue, that was after my cross-street neighbor showed me how well it worked on his 1986 Explorer. I think a 2009 Santa Fe is safe. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 5, 2021 Super User Posted September 5, 2021 I recommend Griot's Garage 10691 Synthetic Clay This is a very effective way to rid surface paint of most contaminants in advance of a polish & or wax. I use this one (as a wash sponge) every time I wash the truck & the boat. Real time saver. https://www.amazon.com/Griots-Garage-10691-Synthetic-Brilliant/dp/B072HHT8NF/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=synthetic+clay&qid=1630866332&sr=8-2 A-Jay 1 Quote
