EWG Ned jigs

A while back there was a discussion about this.  Have any of you guys who have used them have a report on how snag free they are?

If you speaking of staging, Its the head shape matters, You need to choose the hybrid design that is like bullet shape, Ill try to find some and link it here. in my idea this is most snag free EWG Ned Head.

I just got the mold. Used one a lot for 2 days and never lost it fishing around timber.

They dont snag nearly as much as an open hook.  I hesitated to use them at first because I didn't that heavier hook would allow the bait to stand up.  I found as long as you match the hook to the bait it stand up fine, no bigger then a 1/0 for a TRD.

It was the conversation with Allen that got me to thinking about it.  You know what Table Rock is like.  Even with a weedguard I still lose several.

Which ones have you used?

Flatlands, Lifteds, Zmans finesse bulltets, Owner finesse ball #1 and a few more.  If your swimming the bait the finesse bullets are fine, but that head design doesn't really allow the bait to stand up at more then a 45* angle.  The Owner finesse ballhead is similar to the zman bullet it just has a ball head, so it works better on the bottom but the line tie makes it hard for the bait to stand up straight.  The Flatlands and Lifted heads use Gamakatsu and VMC hooks respectively, other then that they are similar.  As a general rule I would take a Gami over VMC 100% of the time except in this case the 1/0 VMC is a little smaller then the Gami 1/0 and it fits TRD sized baits a little better.  The 1 head that I want to try is the newer Zman EWG shroom head.

I bought a pack of Nedlockz just to screw around with them, and maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but it's literally impossible to get TRDs rigged well on them. I'd rather spend 10 bucks every few months replenishing my stock of Shroomz heads and TRDs than bother with it.

I bought some neds with ewg on eBay…. Hook size 1/0 and one pack of 4/0. They work as good  as a Texas rig with a bullet weight as far a snags go.

The EWG style ned heads are the best.  Guy named Motzart28736 on the ebay makes any size, color, and hook option.  Had a 4 lb TN creek smallie on one today.  Great heads and very reasonable prices.

My buddy uses the owner ones, he likes them. Our lakes look similar to table rock

I had some that I bought offline that I didn't like because the hook was too big for a TRD, like a 1/0 or 2/0. The EWG Midwest Finesse mold uses a #1 hook so it fits perfectly.
