The place is a maze.  A few crazy long kayak runs, w a few turns and you can get lost.  But we kept notes on where we were and I tracked us with two GPS units. ( 3 if I count my watch :)).

it’s tidal so it flows like a river sometimes. Other times it’s flat calm.

we found the bass nursery easily. Tiny voracious bass would hit our baits with careless abandon. I caught my tiniest bass yesterday. It was 5” long and full of spit and vinegar. Hehe.  At the high tide mark I went deep and found a few giants. I had a bass make a run hard and snap my leader. I kick myself for not redoing my knots or checking for nicks.  I picked up 3 3-lbs bass( in five or six casts). I called my friend over and he got a four. The tide calmed down and so did the bite.  It was that quick.

the place is epic. I need to fish it more often to learn. I need to learn what the bass do when the water isn’t ripping. But found a great spot yesterday. I bet there are hundreds of launch spots there. Hundreds.  The place is wild.

Congratulations on a great find.  I grew up in Stockton, and during my final quarter/semester in high school, I cut 43 of 44 school days to go fishing at the turning basin near downtown.  I was admitted to an elite college just before then, so it didn't hurt my permanent record!

Be careful it’s easy to become a river rat as bass anglers who fish their lives away on the Delta.

Special place indeed!

Sounds pretty awesome! What the fish do when the water isn’t ripping? Probably rest spread out. If it’s anything like fishing the ocean, getting bites is hard with slack tide

The Delta is about the only thing keeping me in California.

That and Clear Lake....

I moved from SoCal to Norcal back in 2009 and still feel like a rooking on the Delta.

The Delta is a great place and addicting. There are a few great launching spots for kayaks. the tides do play a major role. Learn how bass use the tides to their advantage. I am learning that. The potential for a 10 pounder on any cast is what drives me.
