Super User Jig Man Posted February 16, 2010 Super User Posted February 16, 2010 What effect will this have on marine battery warranties? Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted February 16, 2010 Super User Posted February 16, 2010 Everstarts are the "house brand" for Walmart/Sam's. They are made by whatever company will build them for the price Walmart is willing to pay for them. Now you will find some made by Exide and Johnson Contols until the Exide ones are sold out. The Johnson Controls supplied ones will be available until another company gives Walmart a better deal. The lower price for those batteries is a result of volume buying from the mfg. and is a good business practice by both companies. Quote
MSPbass Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I recently got my first bass boat and was told this about batteries: "Get 27 series with at least 200 reserve amps - anywhere but Wal-Mart". What do you guys think about that statement? Would this announcement change things? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 16, 2010 Super User Posted February 16, 2010 I agree about the size, but disagree about the where. Quote
JohnnyBigger Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 I have had horrible luck with Wallmart batteries with them being defective and I switched to NAPA batteries(Deka/East Penn) and great luck with Optimas but for the price I go with NAPA because I work there and I pay 10% over cost but the Optimas 3yr free replacement is great but having a good charging system is a huge deal on Battery life. My buddy has ran Optimas for a while and loves them. But IMO wallmart batteries are Junk! after the fourth one in warrantee I switched. Quote
