Super User islandbass Posted August 29, 2021 Super User Posted August 29, 2021 Minimalist here wrt lures and tackle. Although I might carry up 3 rods, 1 bc, spinning and UL, my rod quiver allows me to travel efficiently and unemcumbered. One tackle bag that contains a little of everything. There is one downside to the minimalist approach and that is sometimes what you have on hand is not what the fish want. And you start thinking internally, #€~%>~%!! I knew I should have brought this or that, lol. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 30, 2021 Super User Posted August 30, 2021 Bank fishing I carry 1 rod and reel and sometimes just one lure . If I'm going to be out for awhile I'll throw a few more in my pocket . If Im going to be out for a long time I'll wear a vest with the pockets stuffed with lures . Still only 1 rod n reel . 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted August 30, 2021 Super User Posted August 30, 2021 kayak box for my local no-motors reservoir - no shad here throw in a pack of TRD bodies, and a second small box with finesse spinnerbaits and more jigheads. Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 I updated-renovated my boat for two reasons: 1. Daughters and wife got me a new fish-finder, so needed to add another battery, and wanted to wire in lights and bilge 2. MORE STORAGE for all so I could bring MORE TACKLE(!) Side note: Thursday nights I meet my brother and 80 year old Dad at local lake...I bring the following: - One spinning rod spooled with braid to fluro leader - One small tackle bag with just a handful of lures - (and it PAINS me to fish this way...but it's just a few hours...and the purpose is not to catch fish, as much as it is to spend quality time with Dad!) Same here. 1 rod/ reel and a few baits in a small bag. I've caught just as many fish this way, as I ever did carrying a lot of stuff. I'm to old to lug all that stuff around. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 30, 2021 Super User Posted August 30, 2021 Earlier this year It finally hit me that I needed to downsize my tackle when I reorganized my BPS 370 tackle bag and it weighed more than before I reorganized it. 1 Quote

Same thing happens to fly fishermen. Their vest accumulates 35 lbs they don't need carrying on their neck and rotators. If you figure it out, you switch to a bag that only carries what you need today. My vest is a filing cabinet on a hanger on a pegboard. Quote
Rora Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 I realized today morning that i really only like to/know how to fish drop shot so all i did was pull out different baits. Might just put them all in a single baggie and keep it in the pocket. I'm both too afraid to try something new, and also do not want to waste precious fishing time to tie something else on. Quote
