LIVE3DREAM Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Hello to everyone on the forum....I have enjoyed reading posts about all the talented bait and lure makers here! Rookie question.... I have shaped several balsa shallow cranks, and I am ready to seal them and begin painting them. I ordered some KBS Diamond for final dipping and clear coating....Can I use a dip of KBS to begin the process as my sealer....then sand that coat and paint over that first sealer coat of KBS? I have seen so many different sealer options on the forum....It seems like sealing with CA glue, proportionate, epoxy, and others all seem like a personal preference rather than a rule of thumb practice....I am hoping that KBS Diamond as a sealer might add initial strength to the bait as well as seal it? Any help or guidance on this would be awesome. Thank you all so much, Tres Waco, Texas Quote

Super User islandbass Posted September 18, 2021 Super User Posted September 18, 2021 I have used Dev Con 2 Ton epoxy (24 hour cure time not 5 min) with great success. It seems harder to find these days locally but I learned this from the masters at Tackle Underground about 14 years ago. There are probably other comparable finishes available now, but this is what I still use. 1 Quote
