Hi all,

Long time lurker, second time poster. My out-of-warranty Premier rod is getting close to its end. Repaired tip, guide rings popping out, lose reel seats.

I called St. Croix regarding their gold star service plan. They said I can get a replacement for $70 to the same model or upgrade to Victory Rod for $120.

Is it worth spending an extra $50 for Victory? It will be paired up with Vanford 3000 reel.

Thank you!

I haven't fished the Victory but one of the top kayak anglers I know loves his. He is a St Croix rep. I don't think I got a sales pitch either I have known him for several years.

I own two premier models. I like both of them. I do not own a triumph model so I can’t comment on that one.

I would recommend the mojo series too, I have two of those.

I have the SC Victory VTS71MF with Vanford 2500, it a good light weight combo. I would avoid 610MLXF too weak tip.

I own a couple mojo bass, 1 premier,1 avid x, and 2 victory rods.

The victory rods are more sensitive and responsive than all the others.

if I buy another St croix it will be a victory. they are very nice rods for the price.

only thing to watch for is i have seen several facebook posts with pics of the eva foam peeling off the rod handles. people are saying SC used the wrong adhesive??? not sure but on one St Croix group I'm on there are several posts all showing the same thing. perhaps a bad batch of glue???

I’m a SC long time fanboy. I love my Premiere Rods (some I’ve had long time), but I have say the Avid Rods I fish are a real pleasure. I love them.

The Victory, I could see myself possibly owning/fishing one but they are not in my area yet. Need to touch some. Maybe they will get in in the fall or winter. Don’t want to buy one untouched.

You won’t go wrong buying the Victory. Go that route, post your opinion on it. I’d like to hear what you think.

Good luck with the Vanford. Have not pulled the trigger yet on that.

I have a premier spinning, mojo bass spinning (old SCII) and a Victory casting.  Always felt the premier was even a step below the mojo bass and the Victory is certainly above the mojo.

If I were you I would absolutely pick up a victory for $120.

Spend the extra money for the Victory, you will not be disappointed.  The Victory line is a big jump up from the Premier line in terms of the blank, components, and sensitivity.  Earlier this year my Mojo Bass broke (my fault) and SC allowed me to upgrade (for extra $$) to a Avid-X.  I'm glad I did.

Good choice. I really like my Victory 6'10" medium light.  I think the tip is fine for open hook presentations (drop shot, wacky senko, ned rig).  It is impressively light weight (around 3 ounces) for the price point.

Thank you all. I called and ordered victory rod for $130. Unfortunately it is out of stock and will be shipped October 16th..

You will not be disappointed. And October will be here before you know it. Great choice!

If my Premier was falling apart, I'd go for that deal in a second. Congrats.
