CRANKSTER Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Hey fellas, I'm looking for reccomendations on a good depth finder. It will be going on my 14' project jon boat. I really don't need anything fancy, and I've got around $200 to spend on one. just wandering what you fellas would reccomend. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 11, 2010 Super User Posted February 11, 2010 I've been studying up, reading reviews, and am getting ready to order a $200 price range unit myself. My choice looks like it's going to be the Humminbird 570 - big screen, dual beam (20/60deg), and highest vertical resolution in it's class. Not a lot of reviews available on the 570 unit, but it's a follow-on to the Humminbird 565 and the 565 seemed to have good reviews and some recommendations by folks on this board. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 11, 2010 Super User Posted February 11, 2010 Humminbird 570 offers more resolution than any other graph at that price point. Quote
donmac Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 For $109 on clearance I think the Eagle 320 is the best bang for the buck right now. I just bought one for the bow of a project boat I'm working on. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0075359016155a&navCount=2&podId=0075359&parentId=cat21448&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=cat601812_feat&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21448&hasJS=true Quote
CRANKSTER Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 I hate making decisions lol. Have any of you know about the Garmin 160C? It's on sale at wally world for $164. Looks cool with the color display. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 11, 2010 Super User Posted February 11, 2010 You will give up a lot of screen resolution for that "cool" color screen. It only has 128 vertical pixels. The Eagle 320 has 320 vertical pixels and the HB 570 has 640 vertical pixels. Quote
CRANKSTER Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even notice that. Quote
