have 4 : dobyns fury 661 + 662 (662 has a quantum throttle (10) )

13 fishing black muse 6'10" ml

                ark lancer 6'10" ml

the other 3 have daiwa regal 1000s ( really like these inexpensive reels  , imo has a great drag ) and 6# mono.

takes care of my ned/finesse/ dropshot needs.

How does your Muse compare to the fury and lancer?

imo the muse's(ml) action falls between the 661(light)and the 662 (ml) and its sensitivity is slightly better than the fury ( a better rod imo but 65$ more, but the dobyns are fine rods also ) . the lancer imo action and sensitivity is on par with the fury but the fury is a nicer all around than the lancer ( not a negative against the ark i like it , prefer the reel seat and grip on dobyns  ) if money is a concern the ark lancer is a very nice rod for 20 less than the fury.

Tom, how do you like your vanford?  I need to get a new reel for an NRX and was thinking about a twin power, but not sure it's worth the upgrade cost.  And it's a little heavier. Thanks

Im good on finesse rods.  There aren't many reviews on the Muse, I was just curious what you thought about it.  I got a 7'1 M F C a few years ago and for the most part I really like it.  It reminds me of an Avid, but just a little lighter all around.  I like Dobyns, but the exposed threads on the spinning rods are really uncomfortable.

Don’t have many hours it yet, so far it’s a smooth functioning reel.

My primary Ned combo is an Abu Garcia veritas PLX 7' medium action rod, a size 30 Revo S spinning reel, and 10lb sufix ProMix braid.  No leader.

Tried a bunch, but have settled on just one. Shimano Clarus 6’6” ML w/Lew’s Mach 1 SS (200) spooled with 10#-14# YGK SS112 and 8# leader (mono).

*Curious if you found a mono leader matches  with the YGK main line sink rate - or do you use a mono leader for another reason ?

Yeah, no issues there. Nylon mono is 1.15, and YGK is 1.12, so they match up well. After years of experimenting, I’ve found no need to use fluoro as a leader in most finesse situations (deep winter finesse/crappie presentations might be the one main exception).

Good to know - I would think most people tie better leader knots with mono + braid than with FC + braid . Maxima Ultra Green , P-Line , Sufix , Berkley , etc. all have good money saving mono / co-poly lines which make good leaders .

I have a Rainshadow CB66M with 6" cut off the butt...making it 6'. Being a little shorter I can get away with just 11" handle.

This is fitted with Pflueger Trion TRI20. This set up weighs just 9.24oz.

Currently using StrikeKing 6lb floro...but going back to Stren 6lb mono.
