I had same issue but only with the 1/16 and 3/32 oz when I bent spru back and forth to remove. I started cutting the spru off with side cutters and filing and haven't had any loose ones since.

I had the same issue with my 1/16 head mold. What i found that helps is to grab the lead head with pliers and grab the sprue with another pair and wiggle it off then. I've had no issues since i stopped touching the actual wire keeper or hook.

I tried some #1 and 1/0 EWG hooks last spring for fishing small baits on a T-Rig in grass. My hookup percentage was terrible and most of the fish I landed weren't hooked very well. Just not enough gap there. The solution I found was the little 1/0 VMC flippin hook. Excellent hookup ratio. They can be hard to find though.

I fished these heads with the 5" curl tail worm posted above for 3 days and did not miss a bite and it continued to have an excellent hookup ratio in the times I've used it since. I have some heads I bought poured off FB that had an EWG hook the curved slightly inward that has not had great hookups though. The Victory hooks I'm looking for don't curve in towards the hook shank so it allows more gap for the hook set.

Heard several places have them back in stock.

I'm pouring my own though, not buying already made jigheads.

The Do-It Molds Mid-West Finesse Jig Head Mold + the Victory #10777 #1 size and #1/0 size EWG hooks are receiving a lot of positive feedback as a weedless Ned Rig Jig Head solution ... *Anybody have any experience / updates to share with this set up in terms of having good (or improved) hook up success using a EWG style hook (Victory #10777) ? I would think the Elaztec material would work great with a EWG style hook as the Elaztec collapses so easy to allow good EWG hook ups ?

Hookup ratio is excellent. I don't get as many bites with them but when they're necessary, they rarely miss or lose a fish. I use them for most any small plastic, not just Zman baits.

Good feedback - as far as hook sizing , some suggest that the Victory #1 size EWG is the same size as the Owner 1/0 EWG . My yardstick of measure is with the more widely available Gamakatsu #1 and 1/0 sizes which is about right for most Ned sized soft plastics .
