Buzzbaiter Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 This is probably a shot in the dark, but has anyone here fishing for striper at Liberty Reservoir? I hear so much about how big and plentiful they are in that lake, yet Ive never seen anyone catch one. I tried once with chicken livers, but skunked. I’m hoping to try again this fall. Where do they go in the fall? What do they eat? Is it possible to target them from the bank (I don’t have a boat)? I’m clueless when it comes to striped bass fishing. Quote
OldManLure Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 I lived for several years next to Liberty Reservoir. I don’t know much about stripers, but there are definitely some big ones in there. I could be wrong, but I’m not sure about chicken livers as bait. I caught a few in 90s a few years after they were introduced and before I moved away. Always caught them on live bait…minnows and worms. 1 Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Chicken parts and livers will sure catch em' fished on the bottom. Other large plastics that mimic local shad populations as well as large jointed plugs when they come shallow at night. They were really cleaning up the yellow perch when I left the area. Use heavy tackle they are huge and hard to land sometimes. Good Fishing 1 Quote
