Super User roadwarrior Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 What brand are you fishing? Size? Trailer or not? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 I'm using hair jigs for finesse work. Lindy Little Nipper in 1/16oz. Usually a 4" Curly tail or twin tail grub - Mr. Twister or Zoom Fat Albert. Quote
Super User gim Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 I don't use them much. The ones I have are VMC Moontail Hair Jigs. I prefer black or other dark color to match the enormous hatches of mayflies and lake flies we have up here throughout the summer. Quote
EWREX Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 black outkast tackle feider fly no trailer - 3/32 or 1/8 depending on water depth 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 I have a bunch of Arkie hair jigs, size 1/8 and 1/4oz. When I use them, I use a small Zoom chunk trailer. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 Picasso, 1/2 and 3/4, no trailer. Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 Roadwarrior, if you havnt already, take a look at Dale Hollow Tackle. They have the Punisher hair jig, and an aspirin head hair jig also. Both look good Quote

But whatever you do, Do not, I repeat, Do Not add the last one inch tail section of a MaxScent Flat Worm to that deal. Might get your arm broke . . A-Jay 1 1 Quote

Expand I tie them myself... slightly less than 1/8oz dressed weight... most of the time any "trailer" is tied as part of the jig. oe Quote
Black Hawk Basser Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 I tie my own. I like a 1/8 oz head, 1/0 hook with about 3" to 3 1/2" rabbit strip tail, with some bucktail or arctic fox tail hair around the collar for a body. Sometimes 1/4 oz with 4" tail. Black seems to be my best color. If I use a pure bucktail jig, I sometimes will use a small swimbait trailer. Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 This time of year, I normally use a 3/8oz. hair jig for targeting the 14-18ft. range. Normally, it's white with some strands of mylar and either blue or brown hair. My most productive retrieve is stroking it off the bottom and letting it sit for 3-5 seconds. I tie them myself, but purchase the jig heads in bulk. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 20, 2021 Super User Posted August 20, 2021 1/8 to 1/4oz bear hair jig that I cannot tie but have others tie for me. Allen Quote
Super User webertime Posted August 20, 2021 Super User Posted August 20, 2021 1/8oz Kalins with a 3/8"-1/2" piece of Berkley General threaded up the shank. Quote
