As a small kid it was #3 Mepps Aglia's  & Beetle Spins

12 yo or so and on it was 7"Berkley power worms color Black

Today on any body  of water I can throw a 3/16 shaky head w/ a 4" SK Ocho in Black/ Blue flake and catch fish... guaranty!!

Any trip now starts with the joke of who can last the longest before the Ocho comes out. lol

Yup!!!  I've had days I've caught spots, largemouth, crappie, bluegill, redbreast, white bass, and small stripers all on little road runners when nothing else really was working.  I always keep one rigged up in the spring with me.

My buddy trolls the 1/32 and 1/64 oz. for crappie and has caught bass up to 8 lbs. on them in winter. Stripers too.

I can always tie on a lipless crankbait and catch a couple when all else fails, in almost any situation and condition. I've even had countless days where not even a Ned Rig would work, but throwing and burning a lipless anywhere and everywhere has saved the day.

In the highland reservoir I fish a lot, it doesn’t matter what month it is, hot / cold whatever, you can get bit with a plain old 05 sized shad rap.

My dad also always used a green pumpkin zoom trick worm wacky rigged anytime we fished weeds or lay downs in our neighborhood lakes. Boring but he always caught numbers.

No real lures passed down, I taught myself pretty much everything I know now. My favorite go to lure is probably a walking bait. At least till tonight, a poor seagull met a untimely end ?didn’t have my pliers on me tried to get the hook out of his foot. How did the seagull pass from a hooked foot you may ask. I will admit it was totally my fault for not having my pliers on me like I should have. While holding it still so it could not peck me or try to fly off and hook me I ended up having to much pressure on it and it couldn’t breathe. I still feel horrible about it ?from this day on my pliers will always be on me when I fish. I do everything I can to make sure everything I catch is released with the utmost care so that it survives and goes on to live a happy healthy life, so it hurts when you know it was 100% your fault for making a bad decision and it cost a living breathing being it’s life. I can only move forward now what’s done is done now onto making sure it doesn’t happen again.

5" purple culprits

I've since moved to chatterbaits mostly but I still have some of his old soft plastics and they do catch fish

Ah I'm sorry that happened bud, I learned my lesson with a catfish in a similar way earlier this year. I still feel I have a karmic debt to pay, despite that being the only casualty of the season thus far. If I'd had my Leatherman I could have let it go.
