Zodias or Expride for Magdrafts and Small Glides

Does anybody have experience with throwing a 6inch Magdraft or similar swimbait on a Zodias or Expride? Preferably a Zodias because they're much easier to find and a bit more affordable.

 

This was my first year fishing the magdraft and similar swimbaits and I'm hooked but would like to fine tune it. I'd also like the rod to be able to throw some smaller glides, in the ~5inch range and 1oz to about 1.5oz range.

 

I had been throwing the magdraft and s waver on a 7'6 Curado Heavy Flouro Flippin Stick and really didn't like it. I was also throwing the mid size s waver on it, but for the type of fishing I'm doing I've been fishing smaller glides like the G Ratt Pistol Pete (5.75" 1.2 OZ). I've found I like throwing glides that size on an Okuma EVX 7'2 H, but its a light heavy and the Zodias and Expride Heavy are both rated for .5 Oz more than the EVX. I've found a definitely prefer the 7'2 to the 7'6

 

I'm thinking the 7'2" Heavy Fast Action in either rod would be a good start. Any thoughts?

 

I'm also going through a phase where I'm really interested in the Zodias, so I may be way off base here? If it doesn't work out for the swimbaits I'll probably still get the 7'2 H Fast for jigs or frogs.

The perfect rod for your application is a Poison Adrena 7’4 H. If could pick up a used one at a good price, that would be ideal. The rod is extremely light and balances well. The regular fast action is perfect for throwing the baits you mention (and lots of other things).
