BadBass94 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I am looking at this boat on craigslist and it looks like a nice boat for my dad and i. looking to just do some fun fishing out on the river or lake. Just wondering what you guys would pay for it and if it would be ok for say four people. Any advice is helpful. Thank you Quote
JohnnyBigger Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 It all depends on the condition but if it was me no more the 2,500 TOP that means perfect shape and all the bells and whistles but if average 1,800,it is 20 years old and its only 16'. Just my opinion. PS: I cant think of the site but do the KBB for boats on google, it will give you the value Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted January 25, 2010 Super User Posted January 25, 2010 You can get a fair estimate on the nada guides site. A 16 boat is not big enough for 4 people. Quote
Crappiebasser Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I have a 1990 Procraft 16'. I'm not sure what it's worth but I can tell you it's not big enough for 4 people. It's barely enough for 2 people and their rods and tackle. Quote
NJBass12 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 What size motor? Does it come with electronics, trolling motor, etc? I would definitley get compression numbers on the motor and make sure the transom is solid. The NADA site will give you a good idea. In this market I woudl say 2,000 tops. Quote
Tpayneful Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 You really don't want to fish with more that 2 people in a 16' boat. Without knowing anything about the condition of the boat, motor accesories the price range could be from $1,500 to $2,000. The price will go up this spring. I sold my old boat last spring for $2,500. It was a 1980 (15' 6") Skeeter SS-1 Fisherman with a 1977 70 HP Evinrude. 40lb Powerdrive trolling motor, two Humminbird depthfinders.....etc. Everything on my boat was in tip top operating condition so I got what I wanted. Hopefully this gives you an idea as to what that boat is worth. Quote
Mike 12345 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 You can get a fair estimate on the nada guides site.A 16 boat is not big enough for 4 people. My 1991 Procraft is 18ft, and I would not want 4 adults in it........... Quote
Clyde Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I have a 17'6 procraft. Its an '89 model. I would not try to fish 4 adults. Especially bass fishing. You might could crappie fish. It would still be tight and you would have to have people that were very aware of thier surroundings. I have bass fished three people but its really tight. My dad has a 21' stratos and I would not recommend four people try to fish on that if they are casting a lot. Anyway just my opinion. It also goes back to who the four people are. That alone can make a big difference. Quote
NBR Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 My boat is an 18'11' Astro 18FDX that has a Procraft companion. In that era ProCraft and Astro were made on the same molds. The 17 footer will be okay with 2 people but I'm sure you will be over weight with 4 and pretty crowded with 4 regardless of weight. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted January 31, 2010 Super User Posted January 31, 2010 Look over that transom very, very carefully. Procrafts of that era were known to have transom issues due to rot. Quote
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 My 1985 16' Fisher 35HP Merc will hold max 2 people bass fishing and maybe 3 crappie fishing but it would be tight and semi-dangerous. I paid $1,500 but it needed some work. Keep in mind that it's hard to find (around here anyway) help mechanics to work on the motor. Most reputable shops will not work on 20 yr old motors. Quote
