White tail deer kill more people in the United States yearly than any other animal

I would guess something around 90% of those deaths are caused by a female deer as well

Oh My God Wow GIF

What did I just watch...

Hawks probably pick off fauns, so deer kill 'em when they get the chance.

It's true but I think most of them kill people by crashing through their car windshield.

A distress call sounding like a fawn will bring deer in a hurry. I have a lot of deer around my place, they are not afraid of us and we can walk right up to some of them. There are some that are very stand off. Several of them will play with one of my dogs. They will chase each other around for a half an hour. The deer will jump in the air or slip and fall in the grass, they do some crazy stuff.  I have not been able to touch one yet but almost. Dog will play with a 6 point buck that we have here, they have been playing since he was a little button buck. Don't know what happens when the ruts on.

This is exactly what happened, but people will use it as an example of animals showing compassion for others when it was pure survival instinct by the doe.

That doe was relentless, crazy.

If every deer was that aggressive, I'd quit hunting.

A buddy and I were busting tall Johnson grass off the beaten trail to get to a gravel bar on the Guadalupe.

I'm out of the grass first, and see my buddy running fast to take a swim with his fly rod.  Right behind him was a doe running on her hind legs and kicking with her front.

Just too close to a bedded fawn.

My father in law once shot a nice buck with a big rack. He knew better but thought it was dead… So he walked right over and it jumped up and ran at him . Just before it gored him, one of his dogs jumped up and got the deer by the throat, allowing Mr Dolan to finish him off.

My wife said her dad came home and made his wife sleep somewhere else while he let the dog sleep in the bed that night!

when they're rutting, bucks loose the rest of their little IQ and are driven by the instinct to rut.

That time of year, and in my semi-rural neighborhood, I'm always tenuous hauling the garbage to the street.
