David 7 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Have always fished with straight mono, always have and always will. It’s tried and true in my book. Looking to pick up a spool today. Any suggestions on which one is best for low memory? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 I'm sold on Suffix Advance. 4 Quote

Skunkmaster-k Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I’m going to jump on the trilene xl wagon. Last night I was fishing from the bank and got stuck in a bush. Pert near blew an o-ring trying to break off. Coupled with the limpness and low memory it’s just an awesome product. 2 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 Cheap end .... Trilene XL and Suffix Elite. On the premium end.... Sunlune Defier is great line but not as soft as other mono. It does last longer and retains it's shape better. It's like FC that floats. I use it for crankbaits. 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 Whatever you spool up with, use KVD Line & Lure. 4 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 I'm running Sufix Advance and I'm really liking it. As Mr Franco said - no matter which you pick, get and use KVD. 1 Quote
David 7 Posted August 9, 2021 Author Posted August 9, 2021 Decided on Sufix Elite, will let you all know how it fares. Was gonna go with Sufix Advance but Dick’s didn’t have it in 12lb which is what I fish with. Thanks everyone for the feedback and keep the convo going! Appreciate all of your responses and perspectives. 1 Quote

That was my 'go to' mono before testing Advance - now I use the remainder of the 6# & 8# Elite I have left as backing on my spinning reels 2 Quote
waymont Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 McCoy's has the least amount of memory I have seen. It's fantastic line. 2 hours ago, David 7 said: Matt from Tactical Bassin swears by this stuff. Never as a mainline though. Only as a leader. 2 1 Quote
Scott804 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Sunline Shooter / Defier with KVD L&L is what I run and it is great. 2 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 Trilene XT works for me. Almost as good as Suffix Advance IMO for a lot less $$$. 2 Quote

Super User islandbass Posted August 10, 2021 Super User Posted August 10, 2021 Memory is just a given with mono and I too am sold on mono and luckily I could care less about memory. my personal experience shows that monos that seem to acquire it the slowest are: #1 Sufix - Elite and Siege. I’ve have not tried the other sufix lines #2 Trilene XL All the others like stren, which I also like in fluorescent blue is okay memory wise and an excellent line for my spinnerbaits. I also noticed memory is also further delayed to some degree the larger the spool. But memory is always a given that I hope someday would trickle to my brain to keep a sharp mind, lol. 2 Quote
David 7 Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Update: Went to a nearby pond this afternoon. Fished with the new spool of Sufix Elite and am very pleased with it. After wetting the spool the memory was not an issue at all, it casts smoothly, and was a pleasure to tie a knot with. It is very light and even soft to the touch. Was surprised by that. I can’t imagine a mono line being much better than this, which really makes me excited for Sufix Advance. I will have to try that next season. 1 Quote

I have used Sufix Elite for a few years now, it's super strong and handles very well. You'll like it. I'm not sure that Advance is really any better to be completely honest. 1 Quote

Appreciate all of your responses and perspectives. I have 12# Elite on one of my favorite reels. Has been a good line for me. I am also trying Izorline XXX and McCoy Mean Green. Sunline Super Natural is another good line with low memory. I grew up using XL. No problems with it. I just wanted to try other lines. 1 Quote
GReb Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 McCoy’s is the real deal. I started using it several years ago and fantastic 1 Quote
