waymont Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 It's the only MBR rod I don't own. How are you using yours? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 Dedicated to swimbaits, swim jigs and the Menace. All my rods are favorites, but this is my "most favorite". 1 1 Quote

Super User NHBull Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 I have literally used it for almost everything with the exception of frogs and punching. I have also used it as a spinning substitute for NEKO and weighted wacky. Quote
Dumbbassanglr Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Surprised to hear the above. I use mine for various treble hook baits. 2 Quote

Super User ATA Posted August 8, 2021 Super User Posted August 8, 2021 I have two 842, The Spinning I use for ned rig and drop shot and light shaky head and very small jerk bait and crank bait(1/8 oz) The 842 casting I use for 1/2oz crank bait and jerk bait and jigs. Quote

I have two 852 JWR rods that are incredible for t-rigs, and 3/16 and 1/4oz jigs. I was really wondering about the 2 power MBR rods. Quote
ABrugs Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 This has been really helpful to read through as I’m planning on getting one of the 842 MBR sticks. It sounds like this will work for all of the techniques I plan on throwing. Do you all think I’d be good throwing a 3/8 Megabass Dark Sleeper? Would the 1/2 be too much for this rod? Quote
waymont Posted October 16, 2022 Author Posted October 16, 2022 I ended up getting an older GLX 842 MBR rod at the beginning of 2022. My favorite uses are 1/4oz Mini Max Chatterbait, 5/16 finesse spinnerbaits, squarebills 1/4-1/3oz, shaky heads, tubes. As far as jigs/T-Rigs go, I will stick to my 852 JWR rods. The extra fast tip is better for hook sets. 1 Quote
DaveT63 Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 I love using mine for 1/8 oz t-rigged Christie Craws and Baby Brush Hogs. It also functions very well as a jerkbait rod. 1 Quote
ABrugs Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 I have the NRX+ 842c MBR and have used it for the following: NetBait STH Finesse Tube (2.5"), Megabass Vision 110 Jr./110+1 Jr., Keitech SIF 3.3", Megabass Dark Sleeper 3/8 (3"), Rapala DT6/DT8, Nichols 33 Mini Spinnerbait (1/4), 4"/5" Senko, Zoom Trick Worm, Z-Man Chatterbait Mini Max (1/4), and Dirty Jigs Finesse Swim Jig (1/4). It's an awesome and versatile stick. Quote
