Super User clayton86 Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 This is the first pistol I shot probably 25 years ago at my buddy’s house his dad had one, heck he had a few HKs we used to plink with. Anyways I’m looking at getting one for myself now as a duty pistol since we have to supply our own at work just needs to fit certain requirements(single/double action, barrel greater than 3.4”) and the USP does. Part of me is kinda nah don’t use it for work stick with the sig 320, but the other part of me wants it because we’ll it’s a USP. I’d really go for the Mark 23 but that’s $$$$$$ plus would have to jump through hoops to get it here in NY and would only be able to carry it for work. I rented the USP the other day at the range and fell in love with it they had several other HK pistols but I didn’t ask what ones they were they just said they didn’t have the mark 23 anymore but did have the USP 45. Anyone with any experience with them or the other HK models that are out and more readily available plus cheaper. Like I said would be for duty and I can’t stand glocks that everyone else uses haha. Smells like fish Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 I’ve never even held an HK product but I’ve always regarded them from books, magazines and videos as being one of the highest quality arms makers available. They are on my someday list too. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted August 9, 2021 Super User Posted August 9, 2021 Love the 45 It isn't outstanding in any one area, but very good in most. I have small hands and many large frames guns are thought, but the HK is very user friendly. The double /sigle works well as advertised. Quote
Dye99 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 The HK USP series has served multiple nations in combat as well as thousand of agencies worldwide for law enforcement. Its large and in charge but if they can find a proper holster system its a great gun for duty. Quote

Mr Swim Jig Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 The majority of my pistols are HK. The Mark 23 is the cats meow...lol. people that have them don't sell them. The USP is an excellent firearm as well, 2 other ones to maybe consider is the P30 and the VP9. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 21, 2021 Author Super User Posted August 21, 2021 I ended up getting the Sig 320 full size .45 as my duty gun not able to find a USP for sale. Can rent it at the local range but they don’t have any in stock or their supplier. it’s still on my radar and will probably ****** up the first one I see for a decent price. Quote
TcRoc Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 I’ve had the the HK USP 45 and the Hk 45 .. Hk45 is my choice .. Quote
Sphynx Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Never shot a USP, but I do enjoy the snot out of a number of Sig and Springfield XD models, I tend to favor a single stack 9mm for my daily needs, but I don't use one in a duty sense so my requirements are vastly different, if I had to carry a pistol as a primary escalation of force tool, I would have a short list of firearms that might make the list, Glock would top them, but Springfield, Smith & Wesson, and Sig would all be right up there with them, all of them at this point have service histories that give me confidence that it will handle the abuse a lot of duty guns end up seeing from weather conditions and prolonged periods between cleanings and maintenance, and be able to handle the volumes of ammo I personally insisted on running through them when I was carrying a pistol for professional considerations, I don't think that there is any reason an HK wouldn't make the list out of hand for me except for the fact that I have next to zero experience with the manufacturer, but the age old adage applies, if you are confident in its ability to go bang every time you pull the trigger and you are able to hit what your shooting at, it's probably a solid choice. Super User Nitrofreak Posted August 25, 2021 Super User Posted August 25, 2021 I carry a Sig P320 full size .45 everyday, I have close to 19,000 rounds through it now and it’s just starting to show some wear and tear, for instance the slide lock just started not locking when the mag empties, my sight dots are no longer visible (been considering optics lately anyway) and really, out of the 3.5 years I have had it it has never mechanically failed, I can attest to mistakes on my behalf but I can also say that this one does not like mag-tech ammo, it would not go into battery 21 out of the 50 round box. With what this thing has been through I couldn’t be happier with my choice, not saying what you should and should not do here, that is no ones decision but your own, if your at a toss up though, figure out which one is more like an extension of your hand, does one over the other aid in a more natural point of aim, how close the controls are to reach, can you single handedly break one down easier than the other, can you empty, reload, rack and fire one over the other easier using just one hand, these things and others like them matter more than anything else at least to me. In a lot of cases of when it comes to pricing, if I am looking collect it, I’ll pay for the extras, the one thing I would say to ask yourself is, how dependable is it going to be, we all know that quality firearms are not cheap but the dependability of it doing it’s job when it matters most is worth paying good hard earned money for that little extra confidence and peace of mind. This is when she was new ? 1 Quote

Thanks, I really like it so far I never made it to the range yesterday or today like planned never made it out of work on time to get to the range before they closed. I want to put a flat blade trigger in the 320 like I have on my 365X. I built my 365 to be like the XL when I first got it but wanted the smaller size. Sig now offers the 365X which is what I built before they even offered it. 1 Quote

EDC to Competition ready without the expense of having to buy multiple firearms and everything in between. Quote

Check out the CZ P07. Da/sa, better trigger, safety or decocker in the same gun. Overall I feel it's a better pistol and you won't spend h&k money. Quote

I think we had that one come through when I worked at runnings at the gun counter. I know a CZ came in about a year ago and it wasn’t on the shelf more than a few hours. That was a lot of the guns last year and still is a little bit. We would get a shipment in of around 80-100 guns they would all sell in a day or two and we would be left with just high end auto shotguns for duck hunting. Lowers would last a few hours if that and glocks the sig p365 we had a waiting list of people to call if we got some in most them never even made it to the shelf. I quit there back in March though I do miss the discount and the drop on when guns and ammo came in. Quote
