Rora Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Hey guys. I’ve been using the owner mosquito size 1 hook for drop shot from the shore. Wondering if you guys rig your worms swim baits slightly off kilter (at an angle) basically to match the hook offset. I feel like when I rig it straight the swim bait or worms are slightly rolled. Super User WRB Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 Mosquito hooks aren’t off set? Nose hook about 1/4” back or wacky hook in the center of the worm length. You don’t weedless hook soft plastic using a size 1 Mosquito hook. Tom Quote
Rora Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Sorry I’m nose hooking. From what I can tell the hook’s point shaft and eye are not in the same plane if that makes sense. Quote
Super User Solution Columbia Craw Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Solution Posted August 7, 2021 The point on Mosquito hooks are off set a few degrees but the off set is so minimal it doesn’t rotate a bait enough to effect it’s position when nose hooked. Just nose hook and go. It’s a great hook. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 Owner Down Shot hook #5133 is good for weedless off set hooking finesse worms. Both Mosquito drop shot and Down Shot hooks have the “eye” bent slightly to stand out straight from the line. Both are excellent hooks. Tom Quote
Rora Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Thanks you guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t hurting my presentation. Quote
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted August 7, 2021 Super User Posted August 7, 2021 Thats the one thing I dont like about the Mozy hook for DS. As long as the hook isn't too big for the bait and the knot is holding the hook at the right angle with the line you shouldn't have issues. Instead of rigging the bait straight on the point rig the bait inline with the shank and eye of the hook. Quote
