Dobyns Fury 735C and Booyah Pad Crasher

I broke the tip off my frog rod yesterday and am in search of a new one. 
 

The Dobyns Fury 735C seems to be the go-to for just about everybody. 
 

My question is this - I throw the Booyah Pad Crasher almost exclusively which weighs in at 1/2 oz. This is towards the lower end of the rating for the 735C. I’m sure others fish this frog or similar on this rod, so how does it sling a frog this size? I won’t be able to handle one before buying so I thought I’d ask here.

It s casts a 1/2 oz frog great . It also makes an excellent jig rod. Super sensitive and well balanced.

I had the Sierra 735C and it was darn near perfect for frogs. 
Also used it for buzz baits and paddle tail swim baits and back up heavy cover rod. 
 

I only use the Scum Frog line and mostly  just the original little one. 
Don’t know the weight, but it’s very light and that rod slings them as far as I need it to.

I'm running the FR733C, which is a medium heavy, 7'3" for frogging. It has plenty of whip to sling the Pad Crashers and Pad Crasher Jr's a mile, and plenty of backbone to yank fish out of the slop.

A Dobyns 3 power casting rod, while stating that it's a MH on the rod, behaves and performs like almost every other company's M. It's definitely on the weak side of MH. With that said, a Dobyns 3 power casting rod is my favorite type of rod due to my power finesse style of fishing. I love it for 1/4oz lipless crankbaits, 3/16-1/4oz jigs, Senkos, weightless plastics and small Texas rigs, shaky heads, poppers, Flukes, etc. I literally could not imagine frogging with a 3 power, but I won't tell someone what won't work for them if it's working for them.

My 703 is Jerks, Weightless plastics, and finesse jigs. My current frog rod is an Aird-X H/F, the upgrade on my wish-list is...ta-da...a 735C to haul them out of the lily pads.

Ditto .. love my 713 Kaden.. but wouldn’t  think of using it for frogging in the salad I fish .. 735 great frog rod.. although I use a 736 , 745 and 705

You'll be glad you did. Very versatile rod. It'll throw that pad crasher plenty far. Mine almost never leaves the boat. Frogs, toads, jigs, T rigs, tubes, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, wobbleheads.... Dobyns rods run on the light side for their rating IMO. The 735c isn't nearly as stout as my other heavy actions but it's got plenty of backbone and a great tip. There's a reason it's so well liked by pretty much everyone who owns one.
