So I usually use gamakatsu, vmc or mustad but lately I've been going thru alot of hooks. I've been fishing brush piles from shore which has been productive but also a terminal tackle death wish. So I'm looking for some more moderately priced options. Any recommendations?

I can't help you. Hooks are like broadheads in bowhunting. It brings home the bacon. I don't skimp on hooks.

Stick with the VMC - best cost-to-quality ratio there is. Cheaper hooks are just that.

Mustad hooks like I use are $13-15 for 50 hooks black nickel plated very strong and my favorite.

Sorry TW has them.

H20 express. You’ve got to be careful with 1/0 and 2/0 but the 3/0 and up can withstand a violent hookset with 65 lb on stout fish (for 1/0 and 2/0 I use eagle claw)

I'll second this. I've never had an issue with Mustad. Consistant high quality at a fair price.

Amazon has a 25 pack of Gamakatsu EWG 4/0's for $14.

I also like BPS hooks.  They are $2.50 a pack.  They don't last as long as far as sharpness goes but otherwise I have been satisfied with them.

Cheaper than VMC in the 25 packs?  Go cheaper than that and you are asking for problems IMHO.

The problem with the vmc is the bulk packs are thin wire not heavy duty worm hooks. Pulling a bass out of brush with 15-20lb copolymer and a thin wire hook? Now that's asking for problems!

$4-$5 for Gammy every time, don't even flinch. Don't stop for food on the way, or that pop you didn't really need, or snacks or coffee or whatever, it's all at home waiting for you already bought and paid for... And you've essentially bought the hooks you must have. Hooks and line, don't skimp on them.

Where are you getting 50 mustad worm hooks for $13?

One that I avoid and I have tried for years to get my fishing partner to stop using is Eagle Claw worm hooks.  He doesn't tend to loose them much and so once he catches a fish or gets hung up the hook is dull and he refuses to retie.  I have seen him set a hook on a fish like he's swinging a murder axe back and still come up with nothing or even (and on several occasions) break a hook on a hook set.   My latest complaint on this hook happened this weekend during a tournament.  He laid into a 4+ pounder, swung hard and lost him because the hook wouldn't penetrate.  Oddly the fish came off more than once and hit it again.  The hook wouldn't pull through.   This cost us a spot in the money.  Bottom line don't buy cheap hooks > buy good ones on sale.

Berkley Fusion 19 hooks are fantastic and quite cheap.  You get quite a few hooks as well.  I like them a lot and have never had a problem with them.

6-7 pack of EWG worm hooks for $3.27https://discounttackle.com/products/berkley-fusion19-ewg-worm-hook?_pos=3&_sid=d8eab5912&_ss=r

6-7 pack of hooks EWG offset worm hooks for $3.27https://discounttackle.com/products/berkley-fusion19-offset-worm-hook?_pos=2&_sid=d8eab5912&_ss=r

8-7 pack of dropshot hooks for $3.37 https://discounttackle.com/products/berkley-fusion19-drop-shot-hook?_pos=4&_sid=d8eab5912&_ss=r

They are a little more expensive on TW than discount tackle:

Well looks like I'm not gonna get cheaper than the vmc hooks I'm already using so ill stick with those.

Thanks for all the responses I agree now that I think about it that cheap is not the route to go with hooks.

He was asking for hooks cheaper than VMC.  I wasn't suggesting that they were Superline hooks.  I was suggesting that he not buy no-name Amazon or Walmart hooks.

I make my own worm hooks with mustad flippin hooks paired with owner CPS springs, just screw the worm or stickbait on and run the hook thru and hide the point under the skin. If you are using the traditional worm hook you are correct they are higher priced. I haven't bought that style in quite a few years. I do however prefer the mustad 3/0 EWG it is not light like some of the other hooks I've seen. Pulling fish out of wood laydowns or heavy pad beds I like a stiff hook.

I fish almost exclusively Eagle Claw hooks except for trebles ?‍♂️ and I do fish some of their trebles. Not sure which one of their hooks he's using, but they make good hooks, at least I do okay with them. All my baits that I make have EC hooks on them also.

Most of my single hooks are all Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp. Ive even got the ned head ones and like them better than zman. Ive never lost a fish due to hook failure and cant say anything bad about Lazer Sharp what so ever. My latest purchase was the weedless wacky hooks. Im still on the first hook and still sharp and strong many fish later.

I stick to Gammy or Mustad hooks for plastics, and Eagle Claw for treble hooks.

I touch them up on the water with a file or stone, just takes a couple seconds. Looked in my hook box and I have gammy-owner-vmc-and mustads they all have uses. Old timer taught me to sharpen hooks early on and I end up doing my sons or anyone fishing with me, not worth failing to stick even one fish.

Eagle claw hooks have come up in the world in the last few years with changes they have made.  I’ve switched to them over Mustad.

Nothing but Gammy for me and Eagle Claw trebs.

I've always used Gammy's but I'm currently testing out the H20Express 3/0' and 4/0 EWG hooks.  So far, so good.

They are the $1.99 gold ones from Walmart.   I think they are 2/0 straight shank.  I can break one with two fingers

I have fished with the Lazer Sharp and Trokar versions and they are not bad. The Trokars are some the sharpest hooks out of box I have ever seen next to X-point.
