My DC reel friends with...

any of the DC reels with the extreme distance mode, could you post a brief video showing how to use it? Even just explaining it in this topic is fine.

I had the Antares DC 16 for a few years now. When I'm not backlashing it, I don't see any distance between that mode and the normal one -- I'm probably thumbing the spool too aggressively.

 

I've even released my thumb when the lure was still flying, like in the video below, but the line just knots up. Certainly I'm just doing something wrong. So far I haven't been able to locate a video that breaks it down good. Heck, most of the videos I've seen that has someone using the x mode, is just someone switching to it, backlashing a lot, then switching back to the normal one.

Well hello fellow DC user,

First I upload two photos, This is my latest Antares 21 DC and this one is never been used yet. See the factory setup, Same thing for my last Antares 21 Dc and when I got that one I spool with tatsu 10lb and I start casting with original setting. Usually I am not using thumb at all first few cast and ill try to see how far I am getting distance, In case if I need more ill start to gow down from Max one by one till I get to that sweet spot.

on my 2018 and 2016 Ive had them on X mode and I follow my steps, From max every few cast lower the break till I found that spot that you getting most of the distance with the lure and condition you fishing in(wind direction and etc...), So in my Idea you shouldn't be hurry and cut the break off all the way Ada X mode and start casting. 

My best casting distance was LV500 with 18 MD with braided line on X mode, It is look like you need to match everything, line, lure and wind condition.

Do you thumb the spool when using the X mode? You wouldn't happen to have any videos of you using it, would you? They're a rare gem to find, it seems.

My thumb is doing his thing, Its not I am thinking about it. In X mode I use my thumb if I feel I am loosing the control. I have no video but tomorrow when I go fishing ill try to do X mode and show you. Sometimes really I want to get as far as I can and I use X mode and lower the break till I get backlash and I start to use my thumb right there. Just as I said it depends to so many things, Maybe today with this lure you'll have your break on 5 but next day you need to have your break on 4. Sometimes changing lures how they going against the wind will force you to change the break.

lets say you have two rig/lure same weight one Texas riged 3/8 pegged and the other ***/8 chatter bait. well they are day and night different the setting your break even everything else is the same.

Anyways I have no go pro but ill try to get something with my phone tomorrow.

Shoot, I can never get it to throw on X mode with even the highest settings on without blacklashing, unless I'm thumbing the spool.

 

A video will be great.

 

I'm beginning to wondering if my spool tension came just too lose, since I have to thumb it all way through the cast.

Did you buy this reel brand new , is there side play in the spool and have the spool bearings ever been taken out and cleaned especially the the spool bearing located in the DC Module.

Everything is brand new, with no changes made to it, never been cleaned. It's all stocked. It seems a lot of people just have trouble with the X mode, and not just me. I'm not sure why.

 

I gotta ask you too; do you have any videos of you using that mode I can watch? Anything helps.
