jgordon Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Hello folks, I am looking at possibly buying a couple travel casting rods. I might be doing a lot of travel in near future for work and was looking at couple ones possibly the Milikan one because of the four piece and being able to break down to compact sizes. I am open to opinions not looking to break the bank but I know get what you pay for. I have checked Amazon and other sites to get ideas but see lots of mixed reviews on some of the cheap rods. Much appreciated for the tips again I don't want spinning rods I don't like using them prefer the casting. Quote
Super User MickD Posted July 29, 2021 Super User Posted July 29, 2021 The Milliken looks like a pretty good quality rod. The modern ferrules make multi-piece rods behave almost identically to one piece rods. Just a little heavier. 1 Quote

I also have the 7'6" which is tip heavy but I don't mind. The 7ft may be more balanced. It is pretty sensitive and feels like a 1 piece, no issues at all with it. Quote

If you make the butt long enough to balance it will be way too long for good ergonomics. If one wants a rod to be balanced, better go short rather than long. Quote
Phatha00 Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Thanks for posting this also in the market as well. With a wheelchair and other things in the backseat I am looking for one as well. 1 Quote
CrankFate Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Kastking Compass telescopic. Great price. Versatile real rod. A little heavy, but the price makes it a no brainer. I’ve used it and absolutely recommend it as a top quality mainstream occasional use travel rod. For what my recommendation is worth, anyway. Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Have Ardito 7’ casting and Ardito 7’ spinning. Love them both. Quote

I have 3 Ardito casting rods. One medium, and two medium heavy. I highly recommend them. I use them more than any other rods I own. the medium is a great all around rod I take with me anywhere, and fish for any species of fish. I have landed everything from trout, to DD .bass, to 35 lbs. Jack Carville with mine. I would rate the medium heavy more to the heavy side. All are excellent rods at any price. 2 Quote
JS8588 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I have 3 Arditos. All 7'6. By the way, the MH balances perfectly & looks killer with the Penn Fathom 300LPHS For the price, I absolutely recommend them. Quote
camman Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I have a 7ft Daiwa Ardito rod as well. I also travel a little for work and found being a 3-piece it does not fit in my normal suitcase which I like to take. It will fit in a larger one but that is more of a pain to take. If you are planning to fly with it, I’d look more towards a 4-piece to fit in your luggage unless you don’t mind hand carrying it. 1 Quote
