Super User roadwarrior Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 Roger Goodell and the NFL are not too happy to have Super Bowls in participant cities, like L.A. this year. To remedy the situation the league is considering designating Arlington, Texas for future games or at least for another 35 years! 4 Quote

Super User Tennessee Boy Posted February 6, 2022 Super User Posted February 6, 2022 I watched some of the Pro Bowl today. The intensity of the game brought back memories of some touch football games I’ve played in on church retreats. 1 4 Quote

To say I was surprised by what I saw today would be a massive understatement. Not really sure what that was, but certainly wasn't a brand of 'football' I'd travel & pay to see. I get it, but wow. That was some weak salad. A-Jay 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 6, 2022 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2022 If you want a refresher on what football used to be like, here’s a pro bowl highlight for ya hmmmm. Ok nfl links won’t play. Google Sean Taylor hit in pro bowl. A punter tries to run a fake and gets flattened 1 Quote

Super User gim Posted February 7, 2022 Super User Posted February 7, 2022 The pro bowl and other major pro all star games have generally all been a joke. The players that are represented are primarily chosen by the fans, so its just a popularity contest. Plus in the NFL, the players chosen often "pass" on participating, so they have to go down the list to someone else anyways. In the other sports, each team has to have a representative present, so you may not even have some players present who are having a really good season. Really, the only one that had any significance was the MLB All Star game. And that was because the winning conference in that game was able to be the home team in the World Series. Even that is now gone down the drain too after the Bud Selig debacle year in Milwaukee ended in a "tie." That being said, some players have a bonus built into their contract that indicates they will receive a bonus if they make the pro bowl or all star game. Quote
detroit1 Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Rw , you are correct , but the wrong stadium. Ford field is where the nfl decided to make the permanent home for the super bowl. Go CINCI! Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 14, 2022 Super User Posted March 14, 2022 Deep down I didn't see him retiring. For years he said he wanted to play until he was 45. This year will be that year. 10 hours ago, TnRiver46 said: Favre 2.0 Please tell me it won't be that fiasco. He initially retired from the Packers, retired, joined the Jets for one season, retired again, and then joined the Vikings for 2 seasons. His first season with the Vikings was actually his best season from a statistical stand point during his entire career and they lost in the NFC Championship to the Saints. His second year with the Vikings didn't turn out so well. The only reason I remember this is because that was the season that the Metrodome roof collapsed because of heavy snow. 1 Quote
