Jcj90 Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 When tightening the knot the line is breaking just above the knot. What am I doing wrong? Using 7 wraps up 7 down. also sometimes have trouble getting the wraps to come close together. Any tricks to cinching it down easier? Quote
G3Steve Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Wet the knot with saliva before cinching down! Also, the force you use to cinch down will depend on your line strength. If using light line, you could be pulling too hard, stretching and weakening the line. 1 Quote
li_bass_hunter Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Tip for cinching…cinch down by pulling leader line and mainline and if it’s not cinching all the way grab the tag end end and mainline of leader and pull them apart. It will help draw the braid wraps down. Do it slowly then finally finish the knot by pulling on the mainline and leader line. Hope that helps Quote

walleyecrazy Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 Make sure the knot is good and wet, and pull it slowly until it cinches up. You may be burning the line when cinching it down, which would cause the breakage. Quote
