The reel will come from TW, I buy about everything from them and have for a while. They are way easy to deal with and I don't have to talk to someone who knows nothing about what they sell like some places. The pflueger gets some bad reviews about developing tightness when turning the handle retrieving. Was wondering what members on here had experienced first hand using them. I don't really trust reviews much. Most posts here have been positive which is good. Thanks to everyone for good info and experiences. Dave

I'm having the same problem with my 30. It just started. I've had it for a few years but not many hours using it. I hope someone has an answer.

I found out the problem. My reel is fine. I extended my line and found some of it was fraying. I guess catching large small mouth bass by rocks has it issues. Most bass I caught in my life. All is good now.

I have 2-2500 and1-3000 presidents in my boat, all about 5 yrs. old. I have no issues other than the handle's chrome is peeling and looking bad. I have a sahara 2000 that has not been used much since new. The reel stem on that thing is too short and the bail hits my knuckles on retrieve. It stays in the garage. I will go with Daiwa next time.

Have a president  xl a supreme mgx and  a patriarch . Upgrade to the mgx for twenty dollars.  Smoother better reel. All are on my steelhead rods and the mgx  would be my first choice.

I have several presidents plus a 20xt and a 30xtle.  All are great reels and great values, especially on sale.  However, my daiwa collection of similarly priced reels is superior in almost every way.  The legalis and exceler models are incredible and include choices for spool depth and gear ratio.  The Shimano line is just too heavy unless you can spend JDM money.  One fisherman's opinion, albeit with 60 years experience, mostly ultralight and finesse techniques.
