I have narrowed down to the Fury 704c, SLX MH, or BassX MH.  I am looking for a MH Jig and TRig set up. I would classify this as any bottom contact bait.

Sell me on one!

Thanks,

Kris

I picked up the new BassX MH rod, and it was really heavy, and it was more on the heavy action side of things as well.

Can't say anything about the fury.

Shimano makes great stuff, so that is what I'd go with.

I'm enjoying my Fury 704C for bottom contact and swim jigs, take it how you will.

I use a 7'2" MH SLX for those techniques, and I like it very much. Sensitive blank (for the price), crisp action, lightweight.

I actually just got my fury 734 today to use for senkos flukes jigs and T rigs...feels pretty good in hand

Of those 3, Fury. But a Falcon Lowrider is heads above them and only a few bucks more. Also a Mojo or Tatula would be better. Generally put, spend $20-30 more and you won’t regret it. My $.02

Can't help you out. But the new BassX just debuted at iCast. Supposed to be a step up from the current BassX. Just based on looks, I hate the colors they went with.

I bought a 7' MH F SLX and although its not a terrible rod I just cant get into it.  Its really tip heavy so if you want to fish something with the tip up its uncomfortable.  The reels seat has hard edges on it which make it uncomfortable.  The action of the is very stiff which helps with sensitivity, but casting distance is greatly hindered by it.

I haven't had a ton of experience with the Furys, but as far all around rods go there great.  They are slighter lighter in power and slower in action then the SC.  That slower action makes them cast cast really well and allows you to use even the H actions for weightless senkos if you have to.  That softer action doesnt translate vibration as well clean as a stiffer rod so I probably wouldnt buy a Fury for a bottom contact rod.

The Bass X rods are great for the money, but I would suggest spending the extra $20 or $30 and upgrading to the Mojo Bass.  The SC3 blanks are a considerable step up from the SC2 in terms of weight and sensitivity. The Mojo would be my pick for sure.

Not to complicate things, but Phenix and 13 make some great budget rods as well.

I love my medium action Bass X casting rod.

Don’t know how I feel about the new “hybrid guide system” aluminum oxide on two guides, stainless steel on the rest. I will have to see it to make a decision on purchasing. I liked the blue colors on the original model it matched my Lew’s Inshore LFS perfectly.

I would personally go with the Fury over the Bass X. I would say step it up to a Mojo Bass, but the MH/F Mojo Bass runs a bit on the heavier side too, so unless that's what you're after the Fury 704C is probably a better bet.

No experience with the regular SLX, but I can attest the SLX MGL 70 is a pretty sweet reel.

I won't say my Falcon Lowrider is heads above my Dobyns Fury, but I will say they are both nice rods. Can't compare them straight up as the Lowrider All 'Round Fast is a MH/F and the Fury 705CB is a MH/MF, so different applications. But they are both nice rods.

So I have now had the opp to cast the SLX and it is definitely (MH/F 7') a stiffer set up.  Not bad at all but Im not sure I would enjoy using it as a multi function rod, it would be much more of a jig, trig set up. Im not sure I liked the tip on the SLX as it seemed to struggle to load on pitching 3/8 jigs?  I actually see this set up being a frog rod as I like to frog with M/H on the strong side. I think I may be narrowing it down now to the 704 or BassX.  I have read that the BassX loads a bit and may be better for moving baits rather than jigs.  I may end up with the 704c for jigs and trigs and the BassX as a "Grab 1 rod and go" set up.

Keep the thoughts coming as they are very appreciated for an over thinker like me!
