I’ve got a question - I absolutely love the pit boss and have been using it as my primary Texas rig plastic specifically in the Bama bug color. Haven’t tried the bandito bug yet, but have heard some guys like it. Which is better, what applications, when, and why? Which creature/craw is king? I’ve heard the rage bug and craw are other fisherman’s favorites/considerations in this space.

pit boss is a classic bait that catches fish, numbers and quality.

when comparing the bandito bug to the pit boss, it is so much softer and less durable, meaning it has great action but might last a couple fish per bait.  it also has multiple appendages that also kick and create a different profile than the pit boss.

imo, the bandito bug is an awesome bait that can catch fish without a doubt.  with the vast amount of baits in the industry, I would say to just try them out and see what is the king for you

I get enough catches with the Pit Boss that I haven't even thought about moving away from it.

I sure love the Pit Boss, new or old.  After that comes the Missile D Bomb.  I'm embarrassed to say I've never tried a Rage Bug.  I might even have a pack or two in my great big box o' plastics in the spare bedroom...

Bit of a disclaimer, I do not fish Googan branded baits, and I am not at all the world's biggest fan of the Googans, be that as it may, those baits either catch fish, or else a $6ish bag of soft plastic is such an embarrassing experience that you have hundreds or thousands of people continuing to buy them, then go out of their way to lie to the rest of us about it...I don't believe that anymore than I expect anyone else to, this is one of those things to me that falls into affordable baits, I'm happy to spend $6 or so on a new bag of soft plastics to satisfy my curiosity, worse comes to worse trade them for something else, I personally fish a lot of BioSpawn baits, they work for me, and the price always seems to be right when I buy them, does that mean they are "The best soft plastic baits ever?" Probably not, but they work for me, if that ever stops, I'm positive there are dozens of other brands selling soft plastics that could fill that place in my arsenal perfectly well...buy a bag, you'll be out $6...

I have only caught small feisty bass that tear up (literally rip) the banditos, even caught a fat bluegill once. They lasted usually one catch per bait, so I went through about 5 or 6 in 20 minutes before I was like, gimme a break! and switched to something else lol

It couldn't have been more than a few months ago that I saw Rob (aka LunkersTV) say that they were in the process of making their soft plastics more durable.

Hopefully they can do so without making it less desirable to fish, the durability and the price seem to be the biggest complaints I hear about Googan soft plastics.

As long as they catch fish, who cares. One of the best fish catching soft plastics in the world the Gary Yamamoto Senko has extremely poor durability...like you said 1 bait per fish but they catch fish so people buy them, even at $8 per bag. In the end it's up to the individual fishing them if they're worth it or not!

I'm definitely ok with those durability and price figures if I am competitively fishing and think it's worth a check, but I have far more affordable baits to use as daily fun fishing stuff, as long as nobody is being deliberately deceived, or forced to buy them, I definitely agree that the market will decide whether it is successful or not.

Absolutely agree! That's why a weekend warrior like me loves those Z-Man plastics...1 will last about 50 fish :happy-111:.

Doing better than me, one of those lasts me until I snag and lose it lol

Two things to consider between something like a Pit Boss or D-Bomb, compared to something like a Bandito Bug or Rage Bug.

1. Action

2. Fall Rate

The flanges on the appendages of the Rage/Bandito Bug catch more water as they fall in the water column. This makes they kick more and have more "action". In doing so, this slows down the rate at which they sink to the bottom as they fall in the water column. So switching between the two can change up your presentation. So experiment to see which is better given you fishes activity levels and water temperatures.

Pot Boss! 3” and 4”

get more fish per bait with the Owner screw lock hook. Fantastic combination of bait and hook.

Pitboss is $2 less a bag, 1 more bait per bag, more durable, and a wildly popular bait for a reason. Pretty easy decision for me.

@Bluebasser86 missile baits D bomb, 25 count packs @ $12.99.. what’s been your experience with them as I’m assuming you have used them? If so what have you noticed that differs from them compared to the pit boss.

I had no success with them and I think it became more of a mental thing where I had no confidence when using them and gave up on them.

I'll give you that, I am not a huge fan of the Googan's, but you have to respect the hustle all the same, those kids are out there busting hump and creating jobs, making their dream of turning a hobby/passion into a paying career, which is a whole lot more than can be said of most folks their age.

Don't know who the Googan Squad is & don't really care.

I look at plastics durability as you can have lures in your tackle box or fish in the livewell but you can't have both!

I full expect to loose some & if that Rage Bug catches one bass it did what I hired it for.
