They need to start that again . I use to keep those handy little bottles of abu oil in my tackle box . I remembered this the last time fishing when one of my reels was feeling a little "geary". I use to put a  drop or two   on the bearings and worm gear and that would take care of the problem . I searched through all my garage stuff trying to find a little bottle but to no avail . I keep oil at home of course but would like some of those little plastic bottles again ,.

that's another reason why I love Shimano reels, they still put those in the reel boxes, I've got a bunch of them

Yes, my old 4600c reels both came with a bottle of oil. I always thought the ABU reel.oil was good stuff

Yup.  My Scorpion MGL came with a small plastic bottle of oil.  My Lew's, Daiwa and Quantum didn't.

OP.  Know what your problem is?  You didn't buy enough reels before they quit putting oil in the box.  :lol1:  Pretty sure I have enough to last my grandson's lifetime.  :rofl_red:

I still have a Mitchell 300 that I have had for many years.  Came with an extra spool and a tube of oil.

The new Shimano Curado BFS comes with two different types of oil. The regular oil, and the "BFS" oil.

Same with my Calcutta Conquest BFS.  Most of the Ambassadeurs I've bought new also came with oil.  Newest one was purchased a couple years back and came with a vial of Abu oil plus one with Rocket Fuel Red

The extra spool even had its own container.

Most of the Shimanos I have purchased have come with oil and a few Daiwas.  I wish they all came with some.   It would encourage the owner to maybe do some basic maintenance or at least to ask the question,  "What's this for?"

My old BMW had a tool kit and a road side assistance safety package.   Both were standard at the time.

But sometimes the lug wrench doesn't fit the lugs on your boat trailer tires...

I found that one out the hard way.

You are actually better off going to CVS or Wally World and picking up one of those small squirt bottles you use for vacation that you load soap or conditioner or some crap like that in. Get a bottle of the liquid Super Lube Synthetic Oil from Grainger. Manufactured by Synco and is good from -40 deg. to 300 deg. Most likely better than anything you are getting in the box. Time proven product in industrial repairs for me over the last 40 years. Never had a failure from using the stuff. I believe they put out like a Sportsman’s version in a dispenser pen type.

I have some Shimano oil. I don’t use it. I like the thin applicator tip on the Lucas oil. the Penn oil I use for my Hobie Pedal drive.

Off topic here, but this reminded me of a car I bought a long time ago.  I wanted wheel locks, so the dealer added them plus changed out the lug nuts.  I was up fishing the Thumb here in Michigan and when I got back to my car I had a flat.  Went to change the tire and the lug nuts the dealer installed on delivery were too big for the lug wrench.  To say I was livid was an understatement.  Had to hitch a ride to Walmart and grab a 4-way.

None of mine did - 2 Fuegos, 3 Pflueger BCs (4th was used so doesn't count), 4 Pflueger spinners and 4 Mitchell spinners - not one had oil in the box.
