5/0 Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 Can the legs on craw baits used as jig trailers interfere with the action of the skirt? I’ve almost always used Rage Craws or GYCB grubs with no legs for my jig trailers. Recently picked up some XZone craws and Paca Slims to try as well. Should the legs be removed on these baits when used as a jig trailer? My fingers are ?. Thanks…..Joe 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 17, 2021 Super User Posted July 17, 2021 I haven't noticed any issues using Berkley Chigger Craws - so I'd say no to the interference problem. 1 1 Quote
keagbassr Posted July 17, 2021 Posted July 17, 2021 I find it can be more the opposite, that if the skirt is to long it hinders the trailer claws. 1 Quote

I do make sure the claws are free to move. It was the legs that I was thinking about. I have used hula grubs as trailers to give the jig a fuller skirt profile. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 17, 2021 Super User Posted July 17, 2021 I am not worry about it. Even though Rage menace and rage craw are two of my favorite jig trailer but I have use other type creature baits with success. This one I have hula grub skirt combine with baby brush hog on 3/8oz plain jig head. I always save hula grub skirt once the plastic is too damage. Other creatures I have success with, Yamamoto flapping hog, Yamamoto psycho dad gonna be my next experiment. 1 Quote

They used to sell them like that, Arkie made them up until a few years ago at least. Legs can bind up skirts and vice versa. I'll shorten or remove real long legs if I think they are limiting that pulsing action when the jig hits the bottom. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 18, 2021 Super User Posted July 18, 2021 Not an issue with any soft plastic. Quote
