A new service station has opened up down the road from me. They offer the standard 3 grades of gas. They also have another pump on the side offering what they refer to as "FlexFuel", which is designated as being an E50somethingorother Ethanol product. The cost is about a nickle less than regular gas, so it has perked my interest.

Have any of you used this stuff in your tow vehicle? How about your outboard? Could I run it in my 5 year old, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard? Thanks for your input folks!  :)

Unless you have a motor that is designed for flex-fuel stay away. And if you have a flex-fuel vehicle as I do stay away from it. It may be a nickle cheaper but your fuel milage will go down quite a bit. Until they figure out a way to make biofuels cheaper they are just not worth using.

I have a flex fuel Chevy.  My owners manual would ask me to run down the tank before filling with the greater than 10% ethanol.  BTW: That engine is about a 700.00 option over the standard engine.  If it wasn't on the truck no way would I had it in there.  You will lose serious MPG.

NO WAY on the outboard.  I don't know of one set up to run over 10% ethanol.  Once again your owners manual should tell you the max.   I am lucky and have a station near that sells non ethanol regular gas for a nickel a gallon MORE and I gladly pay it for my boat gas.

Thanks guys! The only reason I was asking was because no around here knew what it was.

Wish I could find ethanol free fuel. You can get it at the airport at outrageous prices.

Ethanol or E85 can be a great asset. I recently had my car converted and tuned for it.  In cars you need to have a tune for it and new fuel system to support the fuel.  It is cheaper but in the long run the price will not go up as petrol fuel will.
