Out fishing today and found what I believe to be the thermocline in the particular lake. I’ve seen it before and figured I’d ask. No matter where we were it was pretty consistent at 15 or so feet. I even saw a decent school hanging out in or above it.

Yep I’d say thermocline.  Last week on Pomme de Terre it was 20’ in some places and 30’ in others.

Yeah, that's exactly what thermocline looks like on my Garmin too. 15-20 feet seems pretty typical in the natural lakes around here.  Find where it intersects a weedline, and drop a jig down there!

It looks like a thermocline to me but your screenshot says the water temp is 30 degrees so I don't know.  I knew it was cold in Michigan but I didn't think it was that cold in July. ?

Definitely thermocline. Any luck catching the suspended fish?

Didn’t bring the cranking rod with me. I had two 11 year olds in tow so I played it safe.

I usually don't see that hard a line  for another month and use it to find flats or humps AR that depth.  It helps me narrow down fishable water.

.....that said, if I have been catch g fish at a spot 10 ft below that, I usually  with try it and am sometimes surprised

Aren’t the suspended ones the hardest to catch?

This past Monday I was at a quarry that has a thermocline at 16-18 feet most summers.  Monday it was at 12 feet.   Clear water, 79 degrees at the surface.

In my experience they are! and especially if they are not suspending on bait. That's why I was curious if you had any luck.
