Culvers and Chipotle have recently posted entry level jobs for almost $25/hour to fill their positions. A Burger King recently had all of their employees quit on the same day and the restaurant had to close. These places won't be able to operate if they can't get employees to do their grunt work so they're either going to have to start paying them better or risk closing some locations. The CEOs and executives won't like it because it will drop their stock options and commissions but oh well that's how they'll have to operate if they want people to work for them. You are correct that the food chains you mentioned are changing over to a better wages than what it was, but it needs to be pointed out that these are more of the fast food variety. My daughter has been working at a restaurant since she got out of high school a few years ago. She went from being a lunch take-out cashier making roughly $12/hour to a waitress at night making a waitress pay of just shy of $3/hour. She was bringing home about $300/night, cash, all through tips as a waitress. Way more than when she was a lunch cashier. Not picking on ya bud, just pointing out a difference. ? 4 Quote

I’d rather work for tips than a living wage myself, customers will take care of you better than your boss or the govt ever will 2 Quote

MN forbids tip-pooling...more states should do this. 1 Quote

Lol Yep - tipped positions have a Federal minimum wage of $2.13 as of 1 July 2021 Some states have higher than that, but not all. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/minimum-wage/tipped 2 Quote

I do this because the sleezy owner/boss/corporation should be paying a living wage instead of expecting the customer to purchase the product AND pay employee wages. Tip culture in America is cancerous and unique and needs to die. HOWEVER, guides, carpenters, roofers, plumbers, or whoever else is of skilled work, not expecting me to pay their wages, providing outstanding service, doing an excellent job, always gets slid a pretty penny. I see this as a massive difference where a job well done by a skilled professional is worth the thanks in coin, but the expectation that I'll pay unskilled workers who hate their jobs so that Mr. Corvette "I can't pay living wages because I buy big houses and fancy cars" doesn't have to can go right to hell. That’s perfectly fine if you like eating other peoples bodily fluids on your sandwich 2 2 Quote

The Red Sox/Yankee rivalry is pretty heated. A couple of friends of mine went to see the Sox at Yankee Stadium. The Sox won that night and my friends decided to hit McD's before getting on the highway. Friend number 1 advised friend number 2 not to wear his red Sox hat inside McD's. Friend number 2 rolled the dice and wore the hat anyway. Friend number 2 got the 2 cheeseburger meal. 1st cheeseburger was fine, but when he opened the second, all he got was the bun, no burger! Friend number 1: "Thank god you didn't mouth off about the Sox winning, imagine what you could have gotten?!" 1 Quote
