claydee Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It's red almost like red clay silt and it's in my fuel filter about every 3 weeks. I'm talking nasty crap. Is it my fuel or what? Quote
SkeeterZX225 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Possibly rust, do you have a metal tank? Quote
claydee Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 nah, it's plastic, a 12 gallon plastic tank in my tracker. Quote
Hot Rod Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 There is a bacteria that grows in moist environs that is redish in color and sort of like sludge in consistency. Not sure about its ability to proliferate in fuel although there are some bacteria and other micro organisms that can. I'd drain your tank, treat it with a stabilizer and refill it. Quote
claydee Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Thanks Hotrod, I'm gonna do that tomorrow, now let me ask you this. Someone told me it was the ethynol in the fuel breaking down, ever heard that? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted January 21, 2010 Super User Posted January 21, 2010 I sounds like the varnish that is left behind when gasoline evaporates. That occurrance can be avoided by using a stabilizer all the time. Quote
claydee Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 I'll be using a stabilizer from now on. Appreciate the info fellas' Quote
