moguy1973 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Is the body hollow like their other frogs? Or is it all the elastomer material and it's solid like the Zoom Frog? If it's the latter I'm not sure the material will get out of the way to ensure positive hook sets. If it is hollow though, I may have to pick a few of these up if they are going to be more durable than other buzz toads. 1 Quote

I am not certain but would assume it's hollow since it looks to be built like a traditional frog. Quote
Phelptwan Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Flappin Frog and Berkley Stunna are my two big items I need this year. Quote

From the SPRO Website......."Kennesaw, GA – Part of the Essential series, the SPRO® engineers worked diligently to create the new Flappin’ Frog, extending the company’s footprint in the world of topwater with a frog meant to be buzzed. The skirted legs have been replaced by paddle-tailed appendages that can be buzzed across the surface or retrieved in a stop-and-go pattern. They’re deadly over thick cover and in open water alike. The frog is made of elastomer material, which makes it float and stretch. They’re deadly over thick cover and in open water alike. Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Having the Zoom floating toad, I'd say don't get your hopes up too much, even though this one is hollow. I used that one with a bunch of different hooks, ended up with a 5/0 swimbait hook texposed with the hook past the surface maybe 1/4". Still missed quite a few fish. If they somehow have the body collapse to allow good hookset like a hollow body, it would be a bass (and even more a snakehead) magnet at times. But the body collapsing is mighty important, the only reason I use Livetargets over Pad Crashers. Quote

I used a wide gapped offset hook that had a keeper tooth at the front of it and it worked well but the nose of the frog got beat up bad, and that caused the hook slot to get bigger and not want to stay in the frog causing it to not be weedless anymore with the hook sticking up above the frog. For $3/ea I probably only caught about 2 dozen fish on 6 of them before I had to toss them because they wouldn't stay on the hook anymore. I also found I was missing a lot of them because that rubber they are made of really didn't have much give to it and wouldn't collapse into the hook belly much. That's why I think this Spro one will be a little more durable because their regular hollowbody frogs last quite a while., plus it has 2 hooks on the sides of the frog which will be exposed a little better. Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted July 19, 2021 Global Moderator Posted July 19, 2021 I don’t know about the spro ones but I have a booyah bait that looks like that but has a single tail and catches big bass. I bet that spro one would work great by the looks of it but I’m not a fish. Try the booyah bait if it’s easier to get, I love them Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I'll definitely try them...I LOVE frog fishing! Doesn't say when they will be available though does it? Quote

The description says it's hollow... Quote
