Super User jimmyjoe Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 Is this a legitimate question or are you a troll? jj 1 Quote
Phatha00 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 No this is a legit question. I just have never heard of the brand. I was always just familar with the big names. Sorry For the dumb question. Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 Casting Rods | Favorite Fishing (favoriteusa.com) fwiw, the only item on their website stated as MUSA is their blankets, but that's expected in modern fishing tackle. The splash on their rod pages looks like they use similar Toray graphite blanks to 13Fishing - - however, 13Fishing are pretty good rods for the price, and excellent warranty. Quote

If you want a guess, they use similar blanks to 13Fishing. Thanks Just got back into the fishing after a 2 year hiatus for medical issues. I think ill stick with my ugly stik and see how long it keeps on kicking. Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 If it's legitimate, it's not dumb at all. Never worry about that. A friend bought one for Ned rigs. It broke and fell apart. He didn't tell me any details about customer service, but I could tell he wasn't happy. A friend of mine in retail says they're "high profit margin". The insinuation is negative. Sometimes you find diamonds in the rough. I would say Favorite is not one of them. Just my personal opinion. jj Quote
Jake51823 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 The quality of the rods is easily beatable by rods at the exact same price of theirs. They might have cool designs but that’s about all you’re getting. Stick to reputable brands. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 I stopped by local DSG and they have several on clearance. I held two of the exact same rod, one in my left hand and the other in my right. I shook both of them. One was like noodle and the other was stiff as a pool cue. Both rods were marked MH Fast. All of them seemed like cheap gimmicky rods but to each their own. I had my doubts when I felt one last year but this closed the door for good. Quote
Super User webertime Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 Their high end is pretty good. Got a Jackhammer Spinning rod and it's crisp, sensitive and light. Great bottom contact/jig head rod. I still hate that it says Favorite on it. Quote
Phatha00 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 Thanks for the replies. I will be sticking with my ugly stik for now. Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I think Favorite makes some nice rods. No 2 lines have felt the same to me and the majority of them I wasn't crazy about. Quality aside you have to look at the YouTubers who essentially put Favorite in the game. Many cut ties with the brand because the business practices were shady at best. One YTer sold hundreds through his link and when he asked for a discount he had to haggle to get 10% off after making the company $1000s off of one video a week prior. I would have terminated my sponsorship as well with any business that greedy. If you want a decent rod for the money, check out 13 Fishing. They have excellent customer service and most of the rods are at the top of the list when it comes to value at their respective price points. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted July 16, 2021 Super User Posted July 16, 2021 I got my hands on some Favorite rods around the $150 range. I was not really impressed. I was wacking the tip on my kid and I couldn't tell when it hits, normally I would expect to feel some vibrations at that price point. I'm convinced that a Berkley Cherrywood would have faired better for well over $100 less. I've heard that hear their higher end rods around $300 are actually pretty good, but my experience with lower end Favorite rods turned me off from the brand. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 16, 2021 Super User Posted July 16, 2021 I have a friend on the TW Pro Circuit who is sponsored by them. I fixed a couple guides over winter for him, seem like pretty nice sticks. Quote
