Super User Spankey Posted July 13, 2021 Super User Posted July 13, 2021 A lot of slim pickens (no pickens) out there on the reel and rod front. Supply chain in disarray. Maybe. Quote
papajoe222 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 This is one of the reasons on-line purchasing became so popular. If you know what you want, not only can you find it on the web, you'll likely get it cheaper that at a brick and mortar store. The downside is, you can't hold it before buying it. With reels, it isn't as big a downside as with purchasing a rod. Many sites have a very forgiving return policy similar to buying a pair of boots that don't fit when you get them, but make sure you check it out prior to purchasing. 2 Quote
David 7 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 The thing about buying a rod online is you can’t tell what the tip is really like. The tip/ ability to set the hook is what makes or breaks a rod for me. 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted July 14, 2021 Author Super User Posted July 14, 2021 I generally would never buy a rod untouched first. I’ve had guys/shops order me in 3 and than take the one I want. Nasci 3000 looking to be tough to find from where I’d buy it from. No biggie. Not a life or death purchase. Quote
