How necessary is braided line when throwing something like a toad where it's just chuck and wind all the time?  Wondering if I can get away with throwing it on 20 lb fluoro on a MH setup occasionally instead of having something rigged up with heavy braid.

If you are limited to the number of combos then make do with 20 lb floro or mono  . But if your going to have a dedicated toad rod ,then  braid is the way to go .

Everything else you throw on the frog rod is classically better on braid as well.  I would much rather use a slightly smaller braid than mono.  30lb you can get away with on a frog, although 40lb is better but if you have to compromise I would compromise that way and not run mono.  You will lose more frogs and baits with mono/flouro than the braid....at least if you fish slop where IMO frogs excel.

Curious- what other things are you referring too?
