Not very often I go to a fishing spot and find a lure like the Ol’ Plopper Layin around. In my favorite color too.

I left a sign where I found it with my phone number and message stating if they lost their lure and could say what it was they could call me.

I’ve left stuff behind before and always wished someone did the same for me.

We’ll see. If no one claims it, I could always use it.

I returned to the launch one day late and found a fine Lews rod/reel combo with a jig on it laying on the dock. No other boats or vehicles in the lot so I picked it up.  I knew the boats that had been on the lake though not the owners so I resolved to watch for them.  Finally, saw one of the boats out fishing so I motored over to him and asked if he'd lost any tackle recently.  He was able to tell me what I'd found so I gladly returned it to him.  His boy had left it and they figured after 2 weeks, it was gone.  Made a friend and fishing buddy that day.

In a separate instance, I hooked and lost a nice one on a squarebill crawfish colored crankbait.  About 3 weeks later, I found that lure hanging on one of the signs by the dock.  Apparently, someone found it floating or still in the fish and left it for the rightful owner to find.  Some new trebles and she was as good as new.

Good find and nice of you to leave the message, that's how I got my wife but no one called *ahem*

Some years ago I was fishing at a popular spot at a local reservoir with a large parking lot. I had been walking the banks carrying three pretty nice spinning rods. When I was ready to go I walked up to the back of my truck and laid the rods down in the grass to open the cap of the bed cover. Just then I got a call on my phone so I answered and started talking to a friend. The conversation went on for awhile and I walked  around to the front of the truck then finally went and sat in the truck after getting tired of standing. When we were done talking (about 20 minutes) I started the truck and drove off. I had gotten several miles down the road when a small puff of smoke went off in my brain and I heard the creaking of one small rusted gear turn slightly within my gray matter ~ "THE RODS, STUPID!"  I turned around and sped back to the parking lot but the rods were gone. There was a informational bulletin board there and I left a note about my lost rods with contact information and of course I never heard a thing... where were you that day?

PS Actually I have a wonderful wife and I'm glad no one called.

My family comes out to my club on a regular basis and many of the other members recognize them.

My oldest met me there late last year and fished from shore while I took my grandson out in my boat.  When I went to pay my membership dues this year, one of the board members told be he had something for me.  It was my daughter's rod and reel that she'd left on shore.  She didn't even know it was missing as that was the last time she'd used it.

That was very cool they gave it back. And totally funny about your daughter not using it again. Lol
