Bass won’t bite frog!!!

Recently when I go fishing I see Bass jumping out of the water for what I think is bluegill I also see their wakes when they chase the bluegill. My lake is covered in thick hydrilla so I threw a frog in there. 4 hours later and I still haven’t caught a fish and I haven’t got any blowups. I fished the frog slow and fast. If you could tell me what I’m doing wrong then that would be a great help. Also what other baits do you recommend for my situation

First off, some days chickens; some days feathers.

 

 2 Sundays ago, I tore em up on a Pad Crasher.  Went back the following Sunday, threw the crasher for an hour, couldn't buy a bite. Picked up a buzzbait and couldn't keep em off of it.  I kept trying the frog; I'd throw it for 3-4 casts, nothing. I'd pick up the buzzbait and wear em out.  It only took about 3 of those scenarios to not touch the frog rod again.

 

Second, I've seen what you're describing and they are jumping at dragon flies (at least in my case they were).  What my buddy figured out that day was he would wait, with senko rod in hand, for one to jump. Then he'd fire to that spot and catch em every time.

Thanks for the advise. In my scenario They might be jumping at dragonflies sometimes but I also see the school of small bluegill scattering at the surface when the bass blows up that is why I thought it was bluegill

A Ragetail Space Monkey rigged weedless with no weight has been a VERY good bait to me when the dragons and damsels are buzzing about the pond.  Just burn it across the surface like a toad.

Could be carp.

Also consider trying a weedless spoon*.

* Nemire 1/2 oz Red Ripper is my favorite.

I'd definitely have a green pumpkin senko rigged and just wait for a blowup, then fire at it.

ill try that, i usually have a wacky rigged watermelon red senko tied on my spinning rod

I haven't tried it yet but look in flukes (soft body jerk baits) and how to work them along the surface.

Sometimes they simply don't want a frog.

 

I caught a total of 5 bass on a frog so far this year, it ain't happening.

Frogs are great for summertime Bassin, but if the fish ignore yours, it’s time to switch to a different presentation.  I fell in love with paddle tail swim baits and the bass love them too. You might try swimming one in a bluegill pattern  just under the surface.

Try skipping a small weightless t-rig, and be ready as soon as it lands.

Two weeks ago I saw bass jumping at dragonflies , I think that was the first time I ever seen it . There was a thin layer of duckweed on the water , the bass could see through it and they would try to get one if it buzzed too low . Whenever that happened I would then twitch a stanley ribbet as slow as I could right over them . Sometimes there would be a hole in the duckweed where a bass hit previously and I would catch them there too .

Yep, sounds like a case of "listen to the fish" and after 4 hours I'm not sure they could say "No frogs today" any louder, hell, I am finishing up my night as I type this and I couldn't solve the puzzle tonight, it happens though, yesterday I was catching a bass every 5 minutes on a paddletail, tonight they wouldn't touch that, or a chatterbait, a jig, a pop r, or a crankbait, I am coming to the conclusion in my case that I might be fishing where the fish aren't, in your case, if you stick with something for over an hour and you haven't gotten bit, there's a pretty good chance you haven't been offering the right lure.

Yep.....even I would put the frog away and it wouldn't have taken me 4 hours.  I have found frogs to be one of those baits that they will either hit or they won't.  I also don't use them a lot on bad hydrilla as I have found that fish don't much blow up through it.
