So I am back in NEPA for vacation with the family. Plan on fishing the semi-private lake as hard as my wife will allow for the next 7 days. We have always had luck at one spot in the evening with live minnows so I have been dreaming off fishing lures there for a while. Got in an hour of fishing tonight before a storm ended our fun, but my boy caught 11 bass including this little SMB and this 3 lb largie. I picked up 4 in the 1-2 lb range on a chatter, swim jig, and trick worm. Hoping this is a sign of good fishing all week. Going out to scout spots early tomorrow from the bank since we have access to a small boat and a kayak. I’m really hoping to find some bigger smallies but will settle fo numbers of any bass. Will keep updating as the week goes on…

Kids are continuing to catch bass and crappie on live bait and I had a nice morning with the weightless fluke and senko. Caught 10 in a couple hours ranging from a couple dinks to a close to 2 lb LMB. Bonus was this nice smallie for first of the day. Crazy how those fish jump! Bass up here definitely fight harder than fish in NC. Thought I had at least a 4 that turned out to be maybe half that.

Fishing has slowed a little but managed 8 bass and a pickerel yesterday AM. Live bait is still the ticket right before dark for bass and crappie.
tonight the best spot was occupied so we made do elsewhere and the kids caught some nice perch and a few dinks. I picked up two nice ones on a swinging swim jig with a swimming dinger. 2.2 & 2.67 lbs. Really like the way this bait looks in the water.

Lol, I remember my first smallie catch, was about 12 inches long on a C-Rigged trick worm, I thought I had caught a rock, then got excited when I felt a head shake and felt him dig, what a shock it was to see the fight so little a fish put up, definitely a different world than bucketmouth's, that's for sure.

Somewhat boring end to our week at the lake. High pressure settled in and the creek feeding the lake wasn’t running as fast so the fish weren’t hanging in their usual spots. Kids caught some nice perch and one more nice largie at 2.5 lbs. to wrap everything up, but the action was much slower. I took out my BIL’s boat Friday AM and managed one dink smallie and lost another dink at the boat. All in all, a good week though. Ended up personally landing 37 bass and a pickerel all on lures. I’m happy with that, but wish the early week bite had continued… There’s always next year!

Nice going !   I fish the pocono's as well - all public lakes and the Delaware - don't ever get the numbers you got - sounds like a great place you have access to !

It is a lake community where we rent a house for a week every summer. We have always done well with minnows but I really wanted to catch fish on all artificials this year. I only got out in a boat for a few hours so really only worked a small portion of the lake. Feel it has a lot of promise, but would take several trips to really find fish.
I grew up in the area and keep a hunting club membership with a private lake where I really caught them back in May. Hoping to get back up there more often since those fish see almost no pressure.
What public waters do you typically fish? I thought about doing a charter for smallies while I was up there but was catching too many at my club so I went there instead.

I go to Brady's Lake when the upper Delaware is too high & muddy from alot of rain (which has been the last month).

Gotcha. We were actually right around the corner at Lake Naomi

Figured I would revive this thread rather than start a new one.  I’m heading up to PA for a long weekend to see family and get some fishing in. Taking the kayak so I’m hoping to hit some areas I haven’t tried yet at my club. My cousin said water is still pretty cold.  But wanted to see what the BR members are catching in the NE PA area?
Last year the swimjig and chatter bait bites were on so I’m hoping that’s the case again. Thinking spinnerbaits and a swimming worm will work too. Bass see next to zero pressure and there are pads everywhere so I am optimistic.
Definitely a better fisherman than I was a year ago and have a few new skills that will come in handy.
Here’s a pic of my little slice of Heaven one of the better fish I got last time I was there. AD5BFD5E-79F1-4167-86CF-1C56CC704F8B.thumb.jpeg.2ee64859bf92b4eb0e5388831a3eb93e.jpeg378B93A9-9907-4A19-8DC0-5173D463CC0F.thumb.jpeg.ea8185212959ca3a7aac212e23491e44.jpeg

Also, there are large pike in another private lake I have access to so I’m hoping to hook into one of them. We don’t have them in NC and my grandfather was instrumental in stocking them 25 years ago. Would be cool to catch one of “his” fish…

First day on the lake in PA was amazing! My best numbers day ever with 27 bass and 4 pickerel. None of the bass were giants but very few dinks. Guessing largest was around 2.5 lbs. D1EF162D-AF89-4169-8169-38ADE2853511.thumb.jpeg.ede369f46b5458e3c9b6a7f5d11d3d43.jpegC30B8E5F-531B-44F8-9305-102D70DBFA67.thumb.jpeg.d24c23b9a36247b55e5020b25c3cd9c0.jpegMost of the bites were on the swim jig but they could not resist the Fogy either. Picked up a few each on a speed worm and a weightless fluke. Going to hit it up again in the AM.

Followed up on day two with 26 more largies and 5 pickerel. They were still loving the swim jig and Fogy but got a few on an underspin as well. No real size with the largest bass at 2 lbs. 60347E60-0A94-49F7-B542-D0FDE0A54BFF.thumb.jpeg.0c642c0b90a5acbe19ae972ac586c106.jpegMost of the fish came from one end of the lake where the pad fields are. In another month, this place will be a frogging paradise. 6CBD013F-B5C0-460C-8AAE-32A360227E14.thumb.jpeg.93bc3c346c0e4cc4d0141dd8b98b69b7.jpegI did get to see our resident Bald Eagle a couple times. Flew past me and into the tree to watch me catch a few. Such an awesome bird. 8ACACECB-02D8-443A-B9F2-3DD784CC2714.thumb.jpeg.18a056f11e3c8ee7ef0cdeef286d67b7.jpegFished another lake on Sunday where I only caught 7 bass and had to work hard for them. Front came through overnight bringing bluebird skies and a stiff breeze. Also seemed to **** the bite down. Finished the weekend with 60 bass so I’m not complaining.

Nice,  my buddies and I are headed up to the Poconos in about 10 days for a week of fishing.  We'll be mainly fishing Shohola.  The backgrounds in your pictures sorta look like Shohola, but it could be any number of lakes up there.  Besides we've never had a 60 bass week, let alone a 60 bass weekend on Shohola.

Good job.

Thanks, pretty happy with the results. Water temps were in the low to mid 50’s but the fish were still pretty active. Temps are going to be much warmer up there this week so you may have a better bite than usual. Never fished Shohola, but would be interested in hearing a report when your week there is over. Good luck
