I’m never late. I’m “OCD early” pretty much every time. It bothered me if I’m late, so it doesn’t happen.  What sucks is when my fishing buddy is late.  Haha.  Honestly as I’ve gotten older, I realized my schedule is on me.  I can’t expect everyone to move to my precise time constraints. My friends are late.  I know it, and they are still good friends. 

just a bummer when I’m 20 minutes early and someone  is 20 minutes late.  
 

Are you on time or a late runner?  Today is no big deal since we can’t launch our kayaks unless the cashier takes our launch fee. There is no self-pay station.

When my dad got me my first watch as a kid, he set it 10 minutes early. "You will never be late"
 

That said, as I got older and busier I found that being to early was a waste of time. Given I could have 5 meetings a day, I was loosing an hr of productivity.

 

When recreating, especially with my toys, my partner gets to be late once.  After that I leave them on the dock.  ???

I’m always on time. I fish by myself so meeting someone at the launch is never an issue.  
 

 I’ve got a buddy where I literally add 30 minutes to the start time for everything we do.  We don’t fish but we mountain bike together.  If we are supposed to meet at 10 AM, I don’t show up till 10:30.  Same thing with meeting him at a bar for beers.  I started doing this 5 years or so and only a couple times he actually arrived first to something.

I've got a couple friends who are routinely late.  Their concept of time is outrageous.  I don't fish with them, but every time we meet up or hang out, they're late.  I have to wonder how someone like that can keep a job.

 

I don't fish with anyone who is usually late, and consider myself to be consistently punctual.  They know if they're late, I'll leave without them unless they call me and tell me there is an issue.  I've got some co-workers who are consistently late and when I am the lead on an assignment, I make myself very clear when we are to leave and be somewhere.  If they are late, I leave without them and they get to explain it to their supervisor.

I’m one of those who is always on time. If I have something planned, I’ll never schedule anything else that might interfere with me getting to my first appointment on time.

I'm always early. Work, appointments,  fishing, you name it. Thankfully my favorite fishing partner,  my dad, is also punctual.

Im very ocd as well and in my household if I take my Dad fishing I have to drag him out of bed at 6 and then he sits on the couch to drink coffee for an hour ?.   Worst part of all he brings 3 bananas and eats one in the car, at the ramp,  and on the water.

I don’t sweat my fishing schedule.  I get up when I wake up.  I have a couple of cups of caffeine.  I leave when my breakfast has had time to settle.  Heck,  sometimes I don’t hit water until 6:00AM. ?  If someone is fishing with me I let them set the schedule.

I agree with the responses above that it's a matter of respect and considerations to others. I am on time, and in the event of the infrequent unforeseeable delay, I'm notifying the other party, as soon as it becomes apparent, not waiting for the meeting time. On the other end, when I run the boat, we are leaving on time with or without you, that is made clear ahead of time. I've left folks at the dock before, and don't feel the least bad about it.

  Depends on the circumstance. If I'm fishing I don't like to set strict guidelines...today I wanted to be out no later then 7...I got out there at 645.

  Now when it comes to work I'm basically never late. I say basically because it happens but its rarely my fault. I think I've been late 3 times in the 8 years I've worked at my current job. Once I left early because we had whiteout blizzard conditions..like can't see the end if your hood bad. Ended up driving into a huge drift that was hard packed and it high centered me..had to have the guys from my plant bring our plow truck and a chain to yank me out.

  Next time was a few years ago during some horrible flooding. Bridge indicator online said the bridge north of my house was open...as I pulled up they put the last barricade across. I had to drive 55 miles out of my way to get to work. Those two I don't take blame for..not much I could do.

 The last time was this spring..forgot daylight savings time and didn't change my clock. That's on me.

My wife is VERY OCD which has many many perks like a spotless house. But when we show up to a place 20 minutes early and after a couple minutes she’s wondering why the others we’re meeting are late and that continues until they show up 5 minutes early.

My folks always ingrained in me 5 minutes early if at the very least. Can't stand not being early.

Compared to my wife I'm always early otherwise I'm on time.

I'm am almost always  early . My brother is always the last person to arrive no matter what the plans .  He always has a lame excuse .

When I was growing up and my family was going fishing in the morning, my Father and Grandfather always said "the wheels turn at ... (insert time)" the night before.  If I wasn't in the truck ready to go, the wheels turned without me.  It happened a few times too but when I was younger it was much harder for me to get up early in the morning than it is now.

When I fish travel tournaments with my club it is always interesting to see how the morning goes.  I am almost always one of the first ones to get in the parking lot, uncover my boat, and leave for the launch.  I've had a couple partners that slept later than me and I basically had to rush them to get them moving.  I don't need any help just be ready to go when I am.  I like to be sitting in the water sipping coffee and making last minute adjustments while the rest of the club is launching.

when i was a kid, i was the guy who punched in exactly on time, or 5 minutes late, every day. after a short while, i somehow changed up, and i'm always early, barring unforeseen circumstances. when i'm fishing local, i don't worry about time so much, but if i am driving an hour or more, i'm there waiting on the sun to come up, period.

One of my first jobs I worked at a warehouse and we clocked in at 7 . The boss was late every day , so I would wait  by the time clock until he arrived then clocked in right before him . He didnt like it but   I was an asset and he put up with me .

hahaha my boss used to say  "you come runnin in here every day like some kinda volunteer fireman! just leave the house 10 minutes earlier!" like you, they put up with me cause i worked hard,  showed up every single day, and worked every overtime hour they offered.

Seems like everything I've ever been involved in has had a time involved.

 

My boat has a if you're late you buy lunch rule that is strictly enforced

 

I worked at this Swagelok warehouse and they had a $25 dollar a month bonus that kicked in after 1 year of never being late or having an unscheduled call off. It kept increasing and was capped at $250. There was a maintenance man that did not miss a day for 10 years and was getting the max. Then he got t-boned at an intersection 1 block from work by an executive. He sued the company but not sure what happened as I left that job to pour concrete.

 

They also had this thing called Swagelok time which was 10 minutes fast.

In a section with lots of warehouses all with first shift ending at 5 o clock, this was an awesome perk to get ahead of traffic.
