A while ago I had posted that I had lost the top half of my Okuma Celilo UL 6' rod. I had initially contacted Okuma to find out about replacing the top half. They wanted 25 shipped to my door for the replacement top half. I thought, geesh, for another 10 bucks I can get a whole new rod. So, I declined the replacement.

After thinking on it, I changed my mind. It's a great little rod for throwing ultralight cranks. I decided to email them back asking if I could still get the replacement. Their response was, if you can provide proof of purchase, and the rod is under warranty, we will happy to replace the top half of the rod. Even though it was my fault that I lost the top half and they are willing to replace it, speaks volumes to me about them as a company and their customer service. Has anyone else had great customer service like this?

Thanks and have a good one!

I've only had to go through Okuma's CS once despite owning many of their products, but the experience was excellent.

I had a similar experience with St.Croix. I broke the tip off a 2 piece premier, I called and they didn’t ask for warranty or hesitate to send a new upper half. Don’t remember the price as it was over 10 years ago but I remember being blown away by the service and price. Glad to read about Okuma as I have 2 of their rods.

So they then replace it free of charge or still for $25? Still, at least they were responsive. Either way, good non them.  I absolutely love my 7’ okuma celilo. It is one of my favorite rods.

Had a great experience with Abu Garcia several years ago. Ordered a veritas off there website when it was on sale for $60. When I got the rod it had a broken guide. I took a pic and emailed it to them and told them what happened. They sent me a new rod completely free of charge and even told me to keep the other rod and repair it if I wanted.

I may need it soon because my tip top guide bent in half on my Celilo ultralight because somehow it fell into a door and someone closed it. I might just also replace the top top guide, too.
