I've gotten away from Clips, bc I use to use cheap crappy ones and they failed to often. So I've been tying everything. I use an improved Clinch Knot for larger Baits and Palomar Knot for smaller baits. I've been really thinking of trying Clips again for my Crankbaits. For one I feel that a Palomar knot is stronger and super easy to tie on a clip. Do the Clips effect the way the bait works too much? I just want to save time and be able to switch baits more often, but I also don't want to loose my crankbaits either.

I switched to small duolock snaps for most of my treble hooked baits last year and wish I'd have done it sooner.

What size would you recommend? Do I just match the line lbs or go stronger? I would think if the clip is to big it would effect the baits action.

Are they ok on Frogs too?

I use these in a size #0 for most my hard baits. They're very small but I haven't had one fail yet. I would not use one for frogs.

There was a youtube where the guy tested an array of paper clips to failure.

Tactical Angler was one of the few that didn't deform and fail before reaching its rated proof load.

Believe me, these work fine, even in the crab-crusher back jaws of redfish.

For me, it depends on the bait.  I use Norman Speed Clips for my CB & topwater but tie everything else.

I usually tie stuff on from my kayak.  However, I do use clips for a few things like topwaters and crankbaits.  You get better action with a clip (or by using a loop knot or tying onto a split ring).  Just something that give the nose a bit more freedom to wiggle.  And the speed of switching out baits with clips is a bonus.  There are several different clips that I've used, and the only ones I've had fail are the Eagle Claw snaps.  Duo-Locks and Mustad Fastach are my favorites.  Just get one rated one step above whatever line strength you using.  The caveat is to make sure it's big enough, as especially the Duo-Locks, they can get almost too tiny to easily use.

I’ve started clipping all cranks. I like the extra freedom it gives them and it makes it so much easier to swap them. I also started clipping any treble hook topwaters. As stated above it makes their action better IMO as well. It also makes braid less likely to foul. I use duo-locks since others always seem to fail.

I've only ever had 2 duo lock snaps fail on me in my 40+ years of fishing.  I use snaps for pretty much all my presentations.  So much easier to change baits than having to retie every time.

Clips for cranks, tie direct for everything else.

Single hook lures, I tie. For treble lures, I use Tactical Anglers clips.

I know for a fact that clips are a reason I've caught more fish this past year. I'll leave out a few different baits I want to rotate though and can quickly change them to just make a few cast whereas I never would have taken a bait off just to tie on another for a few cast and then switch back. I caught this fish in January. Switched from a sqarebill to a medium running flat sided crank because there's a short 20 yard portion of this bank that drops enough to allow the deeper running bait to be effective. I never would have made the switch if I had to retie my bait.

Stay away from VMC clips. They fail.

I use the Mustard Fastach devices on several of my outfits.  At one time, I tried some Owner Snagless clips that had a ring and post sort of system to lock/strengthen them.  Unfortunately, the ring was on the end of the wire that opened up, and it wouldn't fit through the eyes on several of my lures.

I tried the Norman Speed Clips and gave up on them after watching a couple of baits sail away on the cast.  I haven't had any issues with the Mustads.  They aren't quite as quick and convenient as a clip, but close.

I use cheap chinese duolock snaps from e-bay I buy in like lots of 500.  Like I said above, I've only straightened they out where they've failed twice.

Direct tie. It takes me half a day to open those clips, I can tie a clinch knot that holds 30 lb stripers in less than 10 seconds I would guess

Might have to try the  clip on again thanks for the information in the comments.

I love using clips on my pan fish spinning rods and bait casting cranks. Get yourself a pair of forceps for faster change outs, I usually lock my forceps on the clip and then tie the line on. They can be tricky without it. The clip ratings are usually higher than your line test.

If you would have asked me last year I would have said no way I am using a snap. Read on here a lot of guys using them and thought I would give them a try, snaps are the way to go for cranks. I use the Tactical Anglers and couldn't be any happier. It is true, you can teach a old dog new tricks.
